Center For Contemporary Opera Presents Scott Wheeler's THE SORROWS OF FREDERICK

Scott Wheeler's opera, The Sorrows of Frederick, will be seen at Brooklyn's Irondale Center on Friday, May 18, 2018, at 8pm. Act 1 of this two-act opera is being presented as part of Center for Contemporary Opera's Development Series. The libretto is by Romulus Linney. Mark Shapiro conducts and Beth Greenberg is the stage director with Keith Phares singing the title role of Frederick.

Surgent Theatre today announces their production of Steven Dietz's Lonely Planet to open at Trafalgar Studio 2 in the run up to London's iconic Pride parade. The play originally premiered in the US at the Northlight Theatre, Illinois in 1993 and this production made its UK premiere at the Tabard Theatre last year. Ian Brown returns to direct Alexander McMorran (Jody) and Aaron Vodovoz (Carl) for this strictly limited run; opening on 14 June, with previews from 12 June and running until 7 July.

Based on the remarkable true story of two warring Allied meteorologists tasked with predicting the weather conditions for the D-Day landings, David Haig's critically acclaimed play Pressure will transfer to the West Ends' Ambassador's Theatre for a limited season from 6 June to 1 September 2018. The transfer follows a celebrated run at Chichester Festival Theatre (5 stars from the; Daily Telegraph, Observer & Evening Standard), a national tour (in association with Cambridge Arts Theatre and Touring Consortium Company) and a sold out run at the Park Theatre.

All-star hit-maker Flo Rida continues to churn out hits, releasing his newest single “Sweet Sensation,” following on the heels of the recently released single “Dancer” – the video for which already boasts over 3.9 million views. Last week marked the historic 10th anniversary of Flo Rida's debut album “Mail On Sunday,” which featured smash hit “Low.” Flo reflected on this landmark moment in an in-depth interview with Billboard. To celebrate this milestone, this past Monday, March 26th was “Flo Rida Day” in the rapper's native Miami, FL. “Sweet Sensation” and “Dancer” are the follow up singles to recently released “Hola” featuring Maluma – the video for which has amassed over 110 million views. Flo Rida rounded out an all-star 2017 with an appearance at the 18th annual Latin Grammy Awards as well as a performance of “Hola” during the 2017 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Flo Rida will perform “Hola” along with “Low” next week during his pre-recorded performance on Showtime At the Apollo.

MOAD MDC To Open Renovated Galleries With New Exhibitions, New Mission And New Identity

Museum of Art and Design at Miami Dade College (MOAD) will inaugurate its newly renovated galleries with two outstanding exhibitions, By the People: Designing a Better America and This Situation, a work by the acclaimed British-German artist Tino Sehgal. The reopening of MOAD's facility in the historic Freedom Tower coincides with its new focus and new graphic identity. A VIP reception and open house will be held for MOAD members and media on April 6. Both exhibitions will open to the general public on April 7.
