There is tremendous support in our audience for bringing younger people into the theatre, and we're having some success in that regard. I'm positive, but I'm also unsure of where we are headed with digital technologies and what they mean for our industry and the larger culture. Our challenge, I suppose, is to be adaptive to what comes along without giving up the wisdom and glories of the past.

Gloucester Stage Company continues its 40th Anniversary Season of professional theater with Patrick Barlow's witty mystery play The 39 Steps from July 5 through July 28 at Gloucester Stage Company, 267 East Main Street, Gloucester, MA. This award winning comic thriller adapted for the stage by Patrick Barlow, from the 1915 novel by John Buchan and from the 1935 movie by Alfred Hitchcock, premiered on Broadway in 2008. The 39 Steps has played in over forty countries world-wide, winning Olivier (United Kingdom); Helpmann (Austraila); Moliere (France) and Tony Awards. The play garnered the 2007 Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Comedy; the 2008 Tony Awards for Best Lighting Design and Best Sound Design; the 2008 Drama Desk Award for Unique Theatrical Experience; the 2009 Helpmann Award for Best Regional Touring Production; and the 2009 Moliere Award for Best Comedy.

Wilton's Music Hall has announced its brilliant Autumn season, welcoming some of the UK's most prestigious theatre companies into the wonderfully intimate surroundings of the oldest working music hall in the world.

BorderLight International Theatre + Fringe Festival and Burning Coal Theatre Company will present Peter Pan and Wendy in Cleveland this summer. The original adaptation, created by director Lillian White in collaboration with the ensemble, is based on J.M. Barrie's beloved novel and premiered in Raleigh, North Carolina in 2017. Showtimes are July 26th at 7:30 pm and July 27th at 1:30 pm and 7:00 pm at the Old Stone Church (Memorial Hall) in Cleveland's Public Square. Tickets can be purchased for the individual shows for $12, or with a "Binge-on-Fringe!" discount pass of four ($40) or eight ($70) tickets. BorderLight International Theatre + Fringe Festival is a new festival of contemporary theatre featuring 100 theatrical performances by companies from around the world. When organizers of the 2019 KeyBank Rochester Fringe Festival (Tuesday, September 10 - Saturday, September 21) announced their lineup at last Monday morning's BIG REVEAL press event, they left out their biggest show of all - the festival's annual, free, outdoor spectacular at what's called Friday & Saturday on the Fringe.

Word for Word and Z Space will stage an immersive production of Samuel Taylor Coleridge's legendary Rime of the Ancient Mariner  with a press night of Saturday September 21 at 8pm running through October 12 (Previews Sept 11-15, 18-20) .   Rime of the Ancient Mariner is to be directed by Jim Cave and Delia MacDougall with a cast that features Nathaniel Andalis, Lucas Brandt, Robert Ernst*, Darryl V. Jones, Leontyne Mbele-Mbong*, Earl Paus, Charles Shaw Robinson and Patricia Silver*. (*member AEA)

The first show will be the London premiere of Dave Malloy's celebrated song cycle Ghost Quartet brought to life by the team behind the recent hit production of Sweeney Todd which won great acclaim in London and New York. Ghost Quartet will run alongside a packed roster of late-night and Sunday performances of cabaret, improv, jazz, comedy, classical music and poetry. Organizers of the 2019 KeyBank Rochester Fringe Festival (Tuesday, September 10 - Saturday, September 21) announced almost their entire lineup at this morning's BIG REVEAL press event. With more than 550 performances and events in 20+ Rochester venues over 12 days, it is one of the premier fringe festivals in the U.S., as well as the largest multi-arts festival in New York State.

Jessica Paz and Nevin Steinberg have won the 2019 Tony Award for Best Sound Design of a Musical for HADESTOWN.

Pandora Colin, Ben Cura, Tory Kittles and Emma Paetz will make their Chichester debuts in Nicholas Wright's new play 8 Hotels, which Richard Eyre directs at the Minerva Theatre from 1 - 24 August (press night: 7 August).

California Shakespeare Theater continues its 2019 summer season with The Good Person of Szechwan by Bertolt Brecht, translated by Wendy Arons and adapted by Tony Kushner, playing July 3 through July 21, 2019 at the Bruns Amphitheater. Fresh off a successful run Off-off Broadway, Between the Threads will play at the Pozez JCC of Northern Virginia with only two performances on June 16. The production is directed by Coral Cohen who also conceived the piece, and features original music by Violinist Zoe Aqua. The extremely limited run features an all-female-identified cast who helped develop the piece, and creative team.

Gloucester Stage Company kicks off its 40th Anniversary Season of professional theater with Neil Simon's romantic comedy, Barefoot in the Park from June 7 through June 30 at Gloucester Stage Company, 267 East Main Street, Gloucester, MA. Performances are Wednesday through Saturday at 7:30 pm and Saturday and Sunday at 2:00 pm. Neil Simon's longest-running hit, and the tenth longest-running non-musical play in Broadway history, Barefoot in the Park opens as newlyweds Corie & Paul move into a sixth floor walk up off Third Avenue in the east 40's of Manhattan and follows the young couple as they quickly discover there's more to marriage than meets the eye.

Brooklyn College will celebrate its 94th Commencement on Thursday, May 30. More than 4,300 graduating students-3,097 undergraduate students, 1,183 master's candidates, and 61 students receiving advanced certificates-makes the class of 2019 one of the largest among Brooklyn higher education institutions. The ceremony will be held at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Students in the graduating class come from more than 125 countries and speak over 80 languages. Fifty-three members of the class are veterans or currently enlisted in the U.S. military and approximately 98 members identify as having a disability. 

The Shakespeare Forum, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating empowered communities through education and performance, announces the 2019 El Barrio's Shakespeare Festival. The three-week festival will present professional and student performances and seeks to help foster the actors and audiences of tomorrow.
