BroadwayHD Expands Opera Offering with BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN and NABUCCO

 BroadwayHD, the premier streaming service for live theater, continues to expand content and is adding two breathtaking opera performances to the existing lineup of more than 270 titles. Brokeback Mountain is a modern opera adaptation of the short story written by Annie Proulx and directed by award-winning, international superstar director Ivo van Hove, who will be directing the eagerly-anticipated revival of West Side Story on Broadway in 2020.  The vivid patriotic opera Nabucco is a drama in four acts filled with energetic performance, intensely beautiful singing and impressive set design that collectively throttles the audience into the time period of the 1800's.

Evans, continues its 2018-19 season with Nina Simone: Four Women, written by Christina Ham and directed by Kenneth L. Roberson.Nina Simone: Four Women runs January 24 - March 2, 2019 at Northlight Theatre, 9501 Skokie Blvd in Skokie. The press opening is scheduled for Friday, February 1, 2019 at 8pm.

There will be dances, stories and traditional music from Native Peoples of the Northeast, Southwest and Great Plains regions. The event has become a treasured New York tradition for celebrating our diversity by honoring the culture of our first Americans.

 Roy Clark, the legendary 'superpicker', GRAMMY, CMA and ACMaward winner, Country Music Hall of Fame and Grand Ole Opry member and co-host of the famed 'Hee Haw' television series, died today at the age of 85 due to complications from pneumonia at home in Tulsa, Okla.

The program is an initiative developed by Disney Theatrical Productions to create sustainable theater programs in under-resourced elementary schools. Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation (SDCF), the independent, not-for-profit affiliate of SDC, Stage Directors and Choreographers Society, today announced unique plans for its 2019 award evening, which will feature original choreographic pieces resulting from a special commissioning program, with the application period now open. SDCF also announced that Victoria Traube would receive a special 'Mr. Abbott' Award at the event, to be held March 25 at the French Institute Alliance Francaise (FIAF).

"Tommy and Me" was hailed as "unabashedly sentimental and sincere" by theatre critic Mark Cofta during its premiere at Theatre Exile. The play is an autobiographical account of a seminal time in Didinger's life as he assists his life-long hero, Tommy McDonald, reach the goal of being accepted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Lyric Theatre Receives Grant From Disney To Fund School Program

Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma has been awarded a $120,000 grant from Disney to bring the Disney Musicals in Schools program to Oklahoma City Public Schools.  The program is a free initiative developed by Disney Theatrical Productions to create sustainable theater programs in under-resourced elementary schools.  The grant funds two years of programming; Lyric Theatre will select five area public elementary schools to participate in 2018-19 and another five will be selected for next year.

Wanda Jackson Announces New Music With Joan Jett Producing

Known for her energetic stage shows and pioneering presence as a female artist, the one-and-only Wanda Jackson - popularly known as the Queen of Rockabilly and the First Lady of Rock & Roll - has returned to Nashville to work on new music. Fellow female Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame member, Joan Jett, is producing the project. The as-yet-unnamed project is currently anticipated for a 2019 release. After decades of recording covers, Jackson hit the writing room for this project, co-writing with many hit Nashville songwriters including Angaleena Presley of the Pistol Annies. 'Ex's and Oh's' singer Elle King also contributed a song to the project.
