Legacy Recordings Set To Release American Epic Documentary Series Collection

Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment, will release AMERICAN EPIC: The Collection, a 5-CD/100 song deluxe box set, and AMERICAN EPIC: The Soundtrack, a single disc anthology of 15 songs featured in the AMERICAN EPIC three-part historical documentary (1LP or 1CD), on Friday, May 12.

LUMBERYARD Contemporary Performing Arts (formerly American Dance Institute) is pleased to present Let It Linger, a new work from the renowned choreographer Vicky Shick, June 8-10 as part of the second annual LUMBERYARD in the City festival at The Kitchen. Let it Linger is a movement piece in several segments, each one with a slightly different combination of inhabitants. In the work, moments of discomfort-perhaps even the unpleasant-are interspersed with attempts at intimacy and with robust and luscious physicality.

Asia Society presents the North American premiere of Soul Journey, a performance bringing new life to the traditional nanyin form. Meaning 'music from the south," nanyin is an ancient style of Chinese music characterized by slow, gentle and melodic sounds.In Soul Journey, Singapore's Siong Leng Musical Association merges traditional nanyin and its Zen influences with other elements such as vocals, the bongo cajon, Indian tabla, masked dance, and more. The performance blends the traditional and the new, and draws on the influences of distant cultures from nanyin's origins along the Tang era maritime trade routes. 

Jim Brickman Joins the Canton Symphony Orchestra in Benefit Concert, 5/13

Cleveland native Jim Brickman is a worldwide sensation with his soulful piano playing.  His simplistic song style has won the hearts of many, and has kept his music on the top of the charts across the country and the world.  In May, he will be coming back to Canton to join the CSO for one special night for their Benefit Concert.  The concert begins with the generosity of the CSO musicians, who are donating their services for the rehearsal and performance.  Concert proceeds will support the Canton Symphony Orchestra Endowment - ensuring the future of Stark County's flagship arts organization.
