Tony Award nominee Will Swenson will play iconic singer/songwriter Neil Diamond in the Broadway-bound musical A Beautiful Noise.

While much of Alan Turing’s work was the subject of the Official Secrets Act, his personal life was not afforded the same anonymity and details of his sexuality overshadowed his achievements for many years.  Hugh Whitemore’s BREAKING THE CODE seeks to balance the scales of the awareness of Turing achievements along with the outdated laws on homosexuality that saw the father of computer science convicted and subjected to hormone therapy which eventually broke him, physically and mentally.

The month of February has a variety of events to offer in venues across Seattle Center’s campus. Some events are presented in-person, while others feature a hybrid of in-person and virtual viewing options.

Macrobert Arts Centre, Stirling's cultural hub, is at last celebrating its monumental 50th Anniversary year after the pandemic postponed celebrations due to start in September 2021. Kicking off the month on January 1st is the 1945 musical comedy film Ziegfeld Follies, featuring Fred Astaire, Lucille Ball, Gene Kelly, Judy Garland, Fanny Brice, Lena Horne and more. The How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying film, based on the musical of the same name, is set to debut on January 4th.

The legendary life of Academy Award-winning actor, filmmaker, activist and human-rights trailblazer Sidney Poitier set to be a new Broadway play produced by Ron Gillyard (Born for This, Mr. Soul); Poitier's daughter, filmmaker Anika Poitier; and Barry Krost. 

See what our critic thought of the national tour of 'The Band's Visit' - an inspiring musical about the healing power of music and its ability to show common ground between two historically opposing cultures. The show stars Janet Dacal as the vulnerable cafe owner Dina and Sasson Gabay as Tewfiq, the orchestra leader who has been traumatized by a past tragedy.

Tonight, NBC will air its sixth live musical production. Following in the footsteps of The Sound of Music, Peter Pan, The Wiz, Hairspray, and Jesus Christ Superstar, the peacock network will be presenting Annie. Based on Harold Gray's comic strip titled Little Orphan Annie, this musical tells the story of a little orphan with equal measures of pluck and positivity who charms everyone's hearts, despite a next-to-nothing start in New York City in the year 1933.

PEAK Performances will present Company SBB // Stefanie Batten Bland’s dance-theater work Look Who’s Coming to Dinner, November 4-7 at Montclair State University’s Alexander Kasser Theater.

Ashland New Plays Festival's 29th annual flagship Fall Festival features four new plays by Thomas Brandon, TyLie Shider, Meghan Brown, and Andrew Lee Creech. This year the festival takes place virtually with livestream readings and talkbacks October 21 through 24 at 6 pm PT each day, with an encore week of on-demand presentations available from October 26 through 31.

ELIZABETH IRELAND McCANN, the iconoclastic Broadway producer who won nine Tony Awards during a 60-year career in theater, died after a bout with cancer on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021 at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx, according to her longtime associate and friend, Kristen Luciani.  She was 90 years old. 

'Dorothy Parker: A Certain Woman' runs from September 15 – October 16, Wednesdays through Saturdays at 8:00 PM at The Cape May Presbyterian Church, 500 Hughes Street, where ELTC is in residence.

While there are laughs to be had, nostalgia to be indulged and charm aplenty in Christian Lebano’s production of YaGM Charlie Brown for the Sierra Madre Playhouse, there is also a certain quotient of angst that no bright costumes or cutesy set pieces can disguise.

Public Theater Artistic Director Oskar Eustis and Executive Director Patrick Willingham announced the line-up today for The Public’s 2021-22 Season, returning to their landmark home on 425 Lafayette Street after the year-long pandemic shutdown with a robust slate of new productions and ongoing  programming.

On Friday, July 23rd, I had the pleasure of seeing live theatre from the Castle Craig Players, again, their first live show since March of 2020!  Performing outdoors at the Hubbard Park Bandshell, in Meriden, CT, the Castle Craig Players return to live performances, right where they left off, with yet another phenomenal first-rate production, the family friendly 1967 classic musical, YOU'RE A GOOD MAN CHARLIE BROWN. After seeing this show as presented live by the Castle Craig Players, it has now become one of my absolute favorite musicals!

Dear Readers, it’s so good to be able to call you all that again. I’m so pleased to announce that live theatre has returned to the Seattle area. That doesn’t mean we’re completely back to normal, but it is a start, as The Williams Project has put together “The Campfire Festival”. And with its rotating slate of shows, they remind us of what we’ve been missing, and longing for.
