Rehearsals are underway for Steppenwolf for Young Adults (SYA) second play of the 2018-19 season, which asks, When you feel lost, how do you find your way? Steppenwolf for Young Adults Artistic Director Hallie Gordon and Gabrielle Randle co-direct We Are Proud to Present A Presentation About the Herero of Namibia, Formerly Known as South West Africa, From the German S dwestafrika, Between the Years 1884 - 1915, which will include a tour to six Chicago neighborhoods in partnership with Steppenwolf Education City Connections partners, BUILD, Inc, the Chicago Park District and Chicago Public Library. Each stop on the tour is open to the public and will include a community workshop, a performance of the play and a post-show discussion.

Grammy Award-winning and multi-platinum recording artist, songwriter, composer, poet and visual artist Serj Tankian today released the soundtrack to award winning film The Last Inhabitant via his own label Serjical Strike Records. The film was theatrically released in 2016 and was well received to audiences in theatres and film festivals internationally, picking up awards and accolades along the way. The Last Inhabitant was Tankian's second film at the helm as composer, and he's since created musical scores for multiple award winning films. Russian-American violinist Yevgeny Kutik, known for his “dark-hued tone and razor-sharp technique” (The New York Times), will launch a new commissioning and recording project titled Meditations on Family in 2019. Kutik has commissioned eight composers to translate a personal family photo into a short musical miniature for violin and various ensemble. He envisions the project as a living archive of new works inspired by memories and tradition. The first recording will be released on January 18, 2019, with one new piece coming out each Friday, and the full EP to be released on March 8, 2019, on Marquis Classics. The recordings were produced by four-time Grammy winner Jesse Lewis.

San Francisco Opera Center Director Sheri Greenawald today announced the 12 recipients of the 2019 Adler Fellowship. Selected from participants of the Merola Opera Program, the ten singers and two pianist/apprentice coaches begin their fellowships in January 2019. The multi-year performance-oriented residency offers advanced young artists intensive individual training, coaching and professional seminars, as well as a wide range of performance opportunities. The Steppenwolf Associates, a group of highly motivated and passionate young professionals, kicked off the fall season hosting a theatrical evening, "Unlocked: From the Page to The Stage," on Saturday, October 27, 2018. The sold-out event sponsored by Ice Miller and Winston & Strawn LLP, was attended by 120 young professionals and raised more than $23,000 for Steppenwolf Education. Israeli-American cellist Amit Peled announces the release of his latest album, Bach Suites Volume 1, on February 1, 2019on CTM Classics. Recorded on the superb 1733 Goffriller cello formerly owned by Pablo Casals, the album features the first three suites and marks the first time that Bach's Suites have been recorded on the instrument since Casals' own path-breaking venture in 1936.

Cleveland Play House (CPH) has been awarded a grant through the Assistance for Arts Education Development and Dissemination Grants Program (AAEDD), which will provide $2 million to continue and expand Compassionate Arts Remaking Education (CARE) over the next four years.  CPH, in partnership with the Cleveland Municipal School District, will add an additional six teachers, and expand to a total of 10 schools and reach over 4,100 students with CARE.
