2020 Johnny Mercer Writers Colony At Goodspeed Participants Announced

In what has become an annual ritual, a total of 40 established and emerging composers, lyricists, and librettists will converge on the Goodspeed campus from mid-January through mid-February 2020 to participate in the Johnny Mercer Foundation Writers Colony at Goodspeed Musicals. The writing teams, representing 15 new musicals, will populate the campus, creating a truly exciting environment for discovery and inspiration.

Axis Theatre Company continues its 20th anniversary season with the 18th annual production of its beloved family holiday show, Seven in One Blow, or the Brave Little Kid. Adapted from the classic fairy tale by The Brothers Grimm, this festive, interactive winter play runs December 6a?"22 and is written and directed by Axis Artistic Director Randy Sharp (Axis Company's High Noon, Edgar Oliver's Victor). Though the poignant tale was created for kids, the Axis productiona?"which teases out some of the many plausible subtexts and includes timely pop cultural referencesa?"resonates equally well for adults.

Directed by Matt Miller, this sharp, subtle and brutally human solo show questions the limited expectations others had for a child with a stutter. Five Years is a work about refusing to conform to those ideas, reaching for a life beyond the one teachers and parents had planned for him, and keeping hold of a sense of self during turbulent times.

The Warner Theatre will welcome comedian and actor KEVIN JAMES to the Main Stage on Thursday, September 19 at 7:30 pm. Tickets will go on sale to Warner Members on Tuesday, May 21 at 10 pm and to the General Public on Friday, May 24 at 10 pm. Kevin James began his career as a stand-up on the Long Island comedy scene. After being discovered at the 1996 Montreal Comedy Festival, he signed a network development deal to create his own sitcom.

The award-winning Equity professional East Lynne Theater Company presents two events in time for Halloween: 'Poe by Candlelight' on Saturday, October 20 at 8:00p.m. and the classic silent thriller, 'Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde,' accompanied by Wayne Zimmerman on the organ, on Sunday, October 21 at 7:30p.m., both at The First Presbyterian Church, 500 Hughes Street in Cape May, where the theater is in residence.
