Now that New Year's Eve celebrations are behind us, my favorite time of the theatre year is upon us. In late winter and early spring, theaters all around Houston start unveiling their upcoming seasons, in hopes of keeping current season subscribers and gaining new ones. Kicking off this annual season of unveiling is Gexa Energy's Broadway at the Hobby Center 2014-2015 Season announcement.

According to the Daily Mail, Genevieve O'Reilly starred in recent a workshop reading of the upcoming stage adaptation of FATAL ATTRACTION, where she performed for writer James Dearden and director Trevor Nunn. The world stage premiere of Fatal Attraction will open at the Theatre Royal Haymarket in March next year. No casting for the full production has been finalized.

The Daily Mail reports that renowned stage director Trevor Nunn will helm the upcoming stage adaptation of FATAL ATTRACTION, to begin previews on March 8 for a March 25, 2014 opening. Nunn and producer Robert Fox will begin casting shortly.

From South Africa comes a stage adaptation of 'Sacred Elephant,' the epic poem by Heathcote Williams, performed by Jeremy Crutchley, a multi award-winning actor of stage and screen, and directed by Geoffrey Hyland. 'Sacred Elephant' is the first of four world-famous, influential poems Williams has written on environmental causes. It was followed by 'Whale Nation' (1988), 'Falling for a Dolphin' (1990) and 'Autogeddon' (1991). Sheer Nerve Productions, in association with BuyArt and Cockpit, will present the American premiere of the work tonight, September 4 to 22 as part of the Summer Shares at La MaMa, 74A East Fourth Street.

According to the Daily Mail, Piccadilly Theatre's owners are lining up a replacement to follow up VIVA FOREVER!'s closing on June 29. The UK tour of Dirty Dancing will begin performances at the Piccadilly on July 12 and runs through February 2014. Casting has yet to be confirmed. And if, for some reason Dirty Dancing cannot make the transfer, the Piccadilly's owners told the Mail they have another show in the wings.

According to the Daily Mail, James Corden has signed on to appear alongside Daniel Mays in Nick Payne's play The Same Deep Water As Me at the Donmar Warehouse, directed by John Crawley. Corden also recently met with Into the Woods film director Rob Marshall to discuss appearing in the movie adaptation of Stephen Sondheim's musical. If the dates for both projects do not conflict, Corden will take part in the pair.

Now according to the New York Times, Roundabout Theater Company, which revived the musical back in 1998, is planning to bring the show back to Studio 54 in early 2014. Composer John Kander revealed to NYT that a revival is indeed in the works, with Alan Cumming attached to reprise his role as the Emcee. Rehearsals are planned to begin in January 2014.
