It has since been made into a movie, enjoyed productions all over the world, and had its Broadway debut starring Neil Patrick Harris, winning the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical. Our 20th anniversary production will find a thrilling new aesthetic and a renewed authenticity as we conclude a nationwide casting search for the right gender non-binary performer to fill Hedwig's boots! The Metropolitan Opera presents a double bill of two rarely performed one-act operas, Tchaikovsky's romantic fairy tale Iolanta and Bartók's harrowing Bluebeard's Castle, with six performances January 24 to February 14, 2019. Iolanta stars Sonya Yoncheva in the title role of a blind princess and Matthew Polenzani as Vaudémont, the knight who loves her. Bluebeard's Castle stars Angela Denoke as Judith, an innocent young bride who discovers the terrifying truth about her new husband, the menacing Bluebeard, sung by Gerald Finley. Henrik Nánási makes his Met debut conducting both operas, which are presented in a production by acclaimed director Mariusz Trelinski.

Berkeley Repertory Theatre today announced the full cast and creative team for Metamorphoses. This co-production with the Guthrie Theater is led by nationally and internationally renowned writer and director Mary Zimmerman.

the TEAM (Rachel Chavkin, Artistic Director; Alexandra Lalonde, Producing Director) the award-winning Brooklyn theatre ensemble, will present Anything That Gives Off Light, a co-production with National Theatre of Scotland and Edinburgh International Festival, from March 14-30 at Joe's Pub (425 Lafayette Street) with preceding runs at Virginia Tech and at Crossing Roots: A Rural-Urban Theatre Workshop presented by Cardinal Cross in Whitesburg, KY. The Stratford Festival lost one of its pioneers today. Douglas Rain died of natural causes early this morning at the age of 90 at St. Marys Memorial Hospital, just outside of Stratford, Ontario, the city in which he established his career, becoming one of the world's great classical actors.

One Yellow Rabbit's Artistic Director Blake Brooker and Festival Producer Laurel Green has announced the line-up for the 33rd annual High Performance Rodeo, Calgary's International Festival of the Arts. The wildly popular festival runs January 9 to 27, 2019 at venues throughout Calgary.

The Metropolitan Opera marks the 100th anniversary of the world premiere of Puccini's Il Trittico, which took place at the Met's original opera house in 1918, with performances November 23 to December 15, 2018.  The three one-act operas of Il Trittico include the verismo-inspired Il Tabarro, featuring Amber Wagner as Giorgetta, Marcelo Álvarez as Luigi, George Gagnidze as Michele, MaryAnn McCormick as Frugola, and Maurizio Muraro as Talpa. Suor Angelica, a tale of religious redemption, features Kristine Opolais in the title role, Stephanie Blythe as La Principessa, and Maureen McKay as Suor Genovieffa.
