It's 1949, the war is over, and America is beginning a new chapter. Eugene Jerome and his brother Stan are being given a chance to audition as comedy writers for CBS in the emerging medium of television. If they succeed, they'll move out of the family home in Brighton Beach and into the Big City. Eugene, however, is distracted. He's fallen in love and thinks his new girl is The One. Stan has episodes of writer's block.

The Theater Collective (TTC) proudly launches its first fully mounted production ever of Backyard/Desert by Nancy Irene Kelly. Backyard/Desert recently debuted as part of the Irvington Town Hall Theater Play Reading Festival in November 2017. It was selected from over 200 international submissions in Winter 2017 and presented as TTC's first staged reading in Spring 2018.

The Old Globe's Barefoot in the Park opened last Thursday and will extend again by popular demand, now running through Sunday, August 16. Director Jessica Stone (Ken Ludwig's Robin Hood!, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike) returns to the Globe, extending the theatre's decades-long relationship with giant comic playwright Neil Simon with this fresh and hilarious new look at his 'bubbling, rib-tickling comedy' (The New York Times). Barefoot in the Park plays July 28 - September 16, 2018 in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Tickets now start at $49.00 and are on sale to the general public now.

Huck is forced to fake his own death to escape and joins up with another on the run - Jim, a slave in the search for freedom. As they head down the river, they get sucked into scams involving two 'aristocrats,' one of which lands Jim in chains once again. Can Huck, with his best friend Tom Sawyer, join together to free him?
