THE MARVELOUS WONDERETTES Opens FST's 2019 Summer Mainstage Season

Florida Studio Theatre kicks off its 29th Summer Mainstage Season with The Marvelous Wonderettes by Roger Bean, an Off-Broadway hit that takes audiences on a fun-filled trip down memory lane. This upbeat musical opens on Springfield High's prom in 1958, which has unexpectedly lost its musical act. To save the night, four female friends-Betty Jean, Cindy Lou, Missy, and Suzy-take the stage to entertain their classmates in four-part harmony. The Marvelous Wonderettes starts May 29 in FST's Gompertz Theatre.

BroadwayWorld has learned that The Muny announced today 25 principal cast members for the first season of its second century. Complete company casting will be announced throughout April and May. The 101st season opens on a brand new, state-of-the-art stage with Muny favorite Guys and Dolls followed by the U.S. regional premiere of Kinky Boots. The season continues with 1776, Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella, Footloose and a newly-reimagined Lerner and Loewe's Paint Your Wagon. Season 101 closes with the highly-anticipated Muny debut of Roald Dahl's Matilda.

The company's 23rd Season will feature two world premieres by women writers, non-traditional casting in classic plays, and an overall season more diverse and reflective of the world. On March 9th, Third Rail Repertory Theatre will screen The Tragedy of King Richard the Second and Antony & Cleopatra at the World Trade Center in downtown Portland. Hartford Stage announced today the cast and creative team for Jeeves & Wooster in "Perfect Nonsense." The Olivier Award-winning comedy from brothers David and Robert Goodale will perform at Hartford Stage Thursday, March 21, through Saturday, April 20. Original director Sean Foley returns to stage the show, which is making its North American premiere at Hartford Stage. Three Broadway actors - Chandler Williams, Arnie Burton, and Eddie Korbich - star in the three-hander.
