Bryer have announced that Rick Hammerly has joined the organization as its new Executive Director as of October 1, 2020. Hammerly, a 2-time Helen Hayes Award-winning actor/director, is also the Producing Artistic Director of Factory 449.

March 12th, 2020 began like any other day for Tyrone's Legacy Theatre. Rehearsals were nearing the finish line for their production of High School Musical 2, which would ultimately see over 160 kids from all across South Atlanta on stage for twelve productions. Rehearsals had yet to begin, but casts were in place for two of their mainstage productions: Almost Heaven, which was sure to be an audience favorite and financial success; and Junie B. Jones the Musical, their spring production geared towards field trips and area youth.

Florida Repertory Theatre is pleased to announce that one of its 2019-2020 Touring Theatre for Young Audiences productions, William Shakespeare's 'Twelfth Night,' is now available for online streaming and on-demand in-home viewing. Adapted and directed by Bill Kincaid, the production played to middle and high school audiences for three months before being cut short by COVID-19 closures.

A pressing concern in our nation is internet bullying and the need for internet safety. 77% of the targets for online predators are ages 14 or older. Another 22% are users ages 10 to 13 (from Your Internet Safety Survey). RCT: Professional Theatre for Schools & Families aims to shed light on this issue and offer strategies for safety through their upcoming production of THE FAKES. This production is part of the RCT4TEENS series, with public performances of THE FAKES being held on February 27 and 28, 2020. Performances will be held at the Jefferson Center Black Box Theatre/Fostek Hall (541 Luck Avenue SW).

Forget that other show. I was in the REAL room where it happened last weekend at the 4th Annual Junior Theater Festival West (JTF), which celebrates youth theatre and encourages students and teachers to keep theatre alive in their community. Each year it follows the Junior Theater Festival in Atlanta, which just finished its 15th season. Over 2,200 people participated in the three-day festival, some coming from as far away as Australia, England, and South Korea. Students and educators benefited from the knowledge of top Broadway professionals in the form of adjudications, workshops, and a discussion panel entitled Pathways to Success, in which the featured guests shared how they forged their own paths to Broadway and beyond.
