Photo Flash: Photo First Look at TexARTS XANADU
by Rebecca Russo - Feb 18, 2019

TexARTS closes its 2018-'19 season with the Broadway hit musical Xanadu, based on the 1980 Olivia Newton-John and Gene Kelly cult classic film. This hilarious story is very simple; a muse comes to Earth and inspires an artist to open a roller disco!  Featuring the music of the Electric Light Orchestra and Olivia Newton-John, Xanadu is one of the giddiest, silliest, sweetest stage musicals you could ever hope to see.  Xanadu plays on stage February 15 - March 3 at the Kam & James Morris Theatre in Lakeway.

by Andrew White - Feb 14, 2019

The idea of a spectacle dedicated to global warming might seem slight, with all the charm of a 3rd grade play featuring your neighbor's daughter in a polar bear suit; but Dehlholm's careful work, rooted in both the science of climate change and the raw emotions of a natural world in flux, aims high and generally hits its mark.

BWW Review: A Yummy FILLE DU REGIMENT Thanks to Yende and Camarena (and Don't Forget Donizetti)
by Richard Sasanow - Feb 13, 2019

I've already cheered tenor Javier Camarena's Herculean take on “Ah, mes amis!” in the Met's current FILLE DU REGIMENT--with 1 ½ dozen high Cs, including an encore--but there's more than the tenor in Met's current revival of the Donizetti gem to make the season suddenly seem grand. He and soprano Pretty Yende have made a potent comic once before--in Rossini's BARBIERE--but FILLE is something altogether different.
