The University of Southern Maine Department of Theatre closes the 2017-2018 season with the upcoming production of "The Importance of Being Earnest" by Oscar Wilde, directed by Andrew Harris. Opening on Friday, April 20 and running through Sunday, April 29, all performances will take place on the USM Gorham Campus in historic Russell Hall. Special school matinees for grades 6 and up will take place on April 24 and 27 at 10:00 a.m, reservations are required.

Three hundred and fifty singers, dancers and musicians from the Hungarian State Opera will take over the David H. Koch Theater for two weeks when the Hungarian State Opera and Hungarian National Ballet make their U.S. debuts, October 30-November 11, in programs featuring a series of U.S. premieres and new productions. Suffragette City, a partnership between the National Trust and The National Archives, will re - create the life of a Suffragette activist in the years before the partial grant of the vote to women in 1918. Inspired by records held by The National Archives, Suffragette City documents the life and arrest of Lillian Ball, a dressmaker and mother from Tooting, arrested for smashing a window in 1912.

Diablo Ballet celebrates its 24th Anniversary with a special one-night only performance on March 22, 6:30pm at the Lesher Center for the Arts in Walnut Creek. The Camerata New York orchestra, under the direction of conductor Richard Owen, will kick off its annual dance festival this January 5 at New York's Theatre at St. Jean's at 76th Street off Lexington Avenue.

The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra under the baton of its newly appointed Chief Conductor Daniele Gatti returns to Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage for two back-to-back concerts in January, marking the first time the orchestra will travel to the United States with Mr. Gatti, who is only the seventh Chief Conductor in the orchestra's 129-year history. For the first concert, on Wednesday, January 17 at 8:00 p.m., the orchestra performs excerpts from Wagner's final opera Parsifal, including the Prelude to Act III and Good FridaySpell, on a program that also features Bruckner's final Symphony No. 9 in D Minor.

Trinity Repertory Company announces the workshop of A Seat at the Table: The Testimony of Fannie Lou Hamer, the new play about the civil rights activist who risked her life to register black voters in the segregated South. The work is penned by nationally-celebrated, multiple award-winning playwright and actress Regina Taylor. The workshop is part of a new partnership between the Brown/Trinity MFA program and Rites and Reason Theatre at Brown University, part of the Department of Africana Studies, which develops innovative theatrical forms rooted in Africana cultural traditions and expressions.
