The Playwrights Foundation, a launchpad for exceptional plays and playwrights announces the lineup for the 2018 Bay Area Playwrights Festival (BAPF) running July 20-29, 2018. The six Playwrights were selected from more than 700 submissions nationally, 85% from outside the bay area, from more than 2 dozen states and Canada - coast to coast a very North American cohort.

In a production commissioned by the Finborough Theatre, a world premiere from the author of Goodbye To All That and I Claudius, Robert Graves' "post-catastrophic comedy", But It Still Goes On, directed by Fidelis Morgan, opens at the Finborough Theatre for a four-week limited season today, 10 July 2018 (Press Nights: Thursday, 12 July 2018 and Friday, 13 July 2018 at 7.30pm) as part of the Finborough Theatre's THEGREATWAR100 series commemorating the centenary of the First World War.

In a beautifully polished performance, Corinne Melancon as Agnes and Steve Isom as Michael (or Kari Ely as Agnes and David Schmittou as Michael on an alternating performance schedule) open Stages St Louis' 2018 season with I Do! Last seen at STAGES in its Inaugural Season, I DO! I DO! tells the poignant story of 50 years in the married lives of Michael and Agnes.  This two character musical version of the comedy/drama "The Fourposter" takes place entirely in a bedroom and takes its audience on a whirlwind journey that begins in 1895 and ends half a century later.  I DO! I DO! offers its audiences a frank look at the miracle of marriage as Michael and Agnes experience childbirth, parenthood, and the eventual settling down to face the future and their advancing years together.

The University of Southern Maine Department of Theatre closes the 2017-2018 season with the upcoming production of "The Importance of Being Earnest" by Oscar Wilde, directed by Andrew Harris. Opening on Friday, April 20 and running through Sunday, April 29, all performances will take place on the USM Gorham Campus in historic Russell Hall. Special school matinees for grades 6 and up will take place on April 24 and 27 at 10:00 a.m, reservations are required.

When the gentlemen are coerced to reveal their web of lies and reveal themselves to their ladies, being 'earnest' takes new meaning.

Hale Centre Theatre's season continues with the opening of a top-notch revival of Oscar Wilde's endlessly entertaining comedy The Importance of Being Earnest.  Directed by Cambrian James, this sparkling comedy which the London Telegraph calls "the most perfect comedy in the English language" plays April 5 through May 12, 2018.  Tickets are $32.00 and are on sale now to the general public. Three hundred and fifty singers, dancers and musicians from the Hungarian State Opera will take over the David H. Koch Theater for two weeks when the Hungarian State Opera and Hungarian National Ballet make their U.S. debuts, October 30-November 11, in programs featuring a series of U.S. premieres and new productions. The announcement of the engagement was made by Szilveszter Ókovács, General Director of the Hungarian State Opera today (March 14) at the Hungarian Consulate in New York City.

Suffragette City, a partnership between the National Trust and The National Archives, will re - create the life of a Suffragette activist in the years before the partial grant of the vote to women in 1918. Inspired by records held by The National Archives, Suffragette City documents the life and arrest of Lillian Ball, a dressmaker and mother from Tooting, arrested for smashing a window in 1912.

This masterpiece of dazzling vocal fireworks makes a rare Met appearance-its first in nearly 25 years-with Maurizio Benini on the podium. The all-star bel canto cast features Angela Meade in the title role of the murderous Queen of Babylon, who squares off in breathtaking duets with Arsace, a trouser role sung by Elizabeth DeShong. Diablo Ballet celebrates its 24th Anniversary with a special one-night only performance on March 22, 6:30pm at the Lesher Center for the Arts in Walnut Creek. The program will feature selections from Swan Lake along with new ballets, company favorites and the World Premiere short film celebrating Diablo Ballet's Anniversary.
