Ghosts and ghouls, witching hour approaches. Teddy Sourias and Craft Concepts Group - the creators of Philadelphia's Christmas Pop-up Bar - announces the opening of Nightmare Before Tinsel. Philadelphia's Halloween Pop-up Bar will take over the 100+ former jewelry store space at 116 S. 12th Street in Midtown Village. Among the ghosts that still haunt the space - including the ghosts of Tinsel's past - look for eerie ambiance, scary photo opps, witches bru cocktails, seasonal fall beers, costumed bartenders, and tons of frights and flights. Inside the new Halloween pop-up bar, look for a room of 1,001 eyes, fights inspired by Poe's Nevermore, a haunted coffin, zombie wall, custom retro ghost bar, giant spider web alley and more - plus of course lots of ghosts, ghouls, goblins, witches and spectres. Nightmare plans to creak open the doors in early October, with final details to be revealed soon. The Boston Modern Orchestra Project (BMOP), the nation's premier orchestra dedicated exclusively to commissioning, performing, and recording new orchestral music, begins its 24th season with a nod to the Jazz Age of the 1920s. The program's first half spotlights the preternatural theremin (invented in the 1920s) with the instrument's first concerto, written by Joseph Schillinger, juxtaposed with the world premiere of Dalit Warshaw's Sirens: A Concerto for Theremin and Orchestra, both performed by world renowned thereminist Carolina Eyck. The concert continues with three works representing the Roaring Twenties and its fascination with American pop culture: John Alden Carpenter's Krazy Kat and Skyscrapers, and Kurt Weill's Little Threepenny Music.

a??a??a??a??a??a??a??A play filled with some of the most beautiful music ever written, Dumas' Camille is both a deeply romantic love story and a thought-provoking exploration of the relationship between truth, memory, and art. Written by New Hampshire playwright Charles Morey, this emotionally charged, highly romantic 'play with music' opens at the Peterborough Players on August 14th and runs through the 25th.

This Spring Pontine Theatre will present their original staging of stories written by Hampton Falls' Alice Brown,  Tales of New England Life will be presented at assisted living communities, senior centers, libraries and historical societies throughout the region.  The tour is made possible with support from the Fuller Foundation and the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts.   The FullerFoundation, is a nonprofit organization  that  supports projects that improve the quality of life for people, animals and the environment.  

Playwrights Foundation, the West Coast's premiere launchpad for exceptional plays and playwrights, is thrilled to announce the lineup for the 2019 Bay Area Playwrights Festival (BAPF), featuring playwrights Terence Anthony, Jeesun Choi, Candrice Jones, Tori Keenan-Zelt, christopher oscar peña, and Jonathan Spector. The 2019 Bay Area Playwrights Festival runs July 19-28, 2019 at Potrero Stage, 1895 18th St in San Francisco.  In addition to twelve staged readings, the Festival will offer a Theater Professionals weekend 7/27-29, panels, lectures and a kick-off party.  Tickets on sale starting June 1st.   

New York Classical Theatre, New York City's all-free Off-Broadway equity theatre company, will bring back its critically acclaimed production of Oscar Wilde's comic masterpiece, The Importance of Being Earnest: Two Ways for a tour of three New York City parks.

Diablo Ballet closes its landmark 25th Season with Celebrated Masters, May 3-4, 2019, at the Del Valle Theatre in Walnut Creek. The program features three captivating ballets including an encore presentation of the iconic Swan Lake Suite.

For its final concerts of the 2018-2019 season, New Amsterdam Singers, led by Music Director Clara Longstreth, will present music with roots in Argentina and Spain, featuring Misa a Buenos Aires/Misatango for chorus, strings, bandoneon, and piano by Argentine-born Martín Palmeri; two works by Astor Piazzolla from his cycle, Four Seasons of Buenos Aires; and Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco's Romancero Gitano for chorus and guitar, on poetry by Federico Garcia Lorca. The concerts will take place Thursday, May 16, at 8:00 p.m., and Sunday, May 19, 2019, at 3:00 p.m., at The Church of the Holy Trinity, 316 East 88th Street (between First and Second Avenues).

April 4 - 14, Pontine Theatre continues its premiere season at the Plains School, with performances of Tales of New England Life, its original stage adaptation of four stories by New Hampshire author, Alice Brown (1857-1948). Pontine's newly renovated Plains School, located at One Plains Avenue in Portsamouth's West End, is fully accessible with convenient free parking adjacent. Performances are Thursdays at 3pm, Fridays at 7pm, Saturdays at 3pm and Sundays at 2pm. Tickets are $27 and may be purchased online at www.pontine.org.

New York Classical Theatre kicks off its 20th anniversary season with a gender-flipping production of Oscar Wilde's comic masterpiece The Importance of Being Earnest, with the entire cast swapping roles at every other performance. The production, directed by Stephen Burdman, also marks the debut of NY Classical's annual indoor performance, extending its season year-round and continuing its all-free performance policy. The production will be presented from March 5-24, 2019 at The Mezzanine Theatre at A.R.T./New York Theatres (502 West 53rd Street).

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), in partnership with The Film Foundation and Institut Lumière, will host the HFPA Film Restoration Summit on March 9 at the Theatre at Ace Hotel in Los Angeles.

André Raphel conducts the Detroit Symphony Orchestra on March 8 and 9, 2019 in its annual Classical Roots Concert taking place in Orchestra Hall.  The Saturday, March 9 performance will be a gala concert and a live webcast.  This year's tribute honors  George Walker,  the esteemed composer, pianist and educator who was the first African American to win a Pulitzer Prize for Music in 1996 for Lilacs, and who passed away this past August at age 96.  Composer Robert A. Harris will be a special Classical Roots Honoree.   It will be the 41st year that the DSO has presented Classical Roots, honoring the achievements of African American composers. 

The Sylvan Winds announce the opening concert of the 2019 Spring Season celebrating music, art, and history. Performing in important cultural and historic New York City buildings, the ensemble creates imaginative and informative programs that reflect the environs of each space.

British conductor Daniel Harding returns to Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage to lead Amsterdam's renowned Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in two back-to-back concerts in February as part of the orchestra's spring 2019 US tour.

Celebrating 50 years of 'bringing dance to life,' the New Orleans Ballet Association (NOBA) kicks off its golden anniversary year with a glittering, star-studded 50th Anniversary Evening of Stars on January 26 at 6:30 p.m., at the Mahalia Jackson Theater.

The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra (CSO) and Music Director Louis Langree announced details of the much-anticipated 125th Anniversary Season beginning in September at Music Hall. The 2019-20 season welcomes acclaimed guest artists including Renee Fleming, Anne-Sophie Mutter, Artist-in-Residence Guy Braunstein and Grammy winner Isabel Leonard, among others. The season includes performances of Beethoven's legendary Akademie program, a fully staged production of Ravel's opera, L'Enfant et les sortileges, seven CSO commissions, five world premieres, three U.S. premieres, as well as an experimental new concert series titled CSO Proof. The 125th Anniversary Season marks the launch of new initiatives both on and off the stage that build on the CSO's legacy. Leading up to the season, the Orchestra presents CSO Look Around, a first-of-its-kind event celebrating community, diversity, and inclusivity on August 3.

Boston Court Pasadena commences the 2019 theatre season with a rare production of David Hare's The Judas Kiss (February 15 - March 24), which tells the story of Oscar Wilde's love for Lord Alfred "Bosie" Douglas - and tracking his downfall as he endures a brutal trial and life in exile.
