PlayCo Announces Full Cast And Creative Team For Toshiki Okada's TIME'S JOURNEY THROUGH THE ROOM

The Play Company (PlayCo), led by Founding Producer Kate Loewald and Managing Director Robert G. Bradshaw, today announces the complete cast for Toshiki Okada's Time's Journey Through a Room, marking PlayCo's third collaboration with Okada, translator Aya Ogawa, and director Dan Rothenberg, May 10 - June 10, 2018. This haunting play, set in post-Fukushima Japan, will star three Japanese born performers, all of whom are now based in New York: Yuki Kawahisa (Honoka), Maho Honda (Arisa) and Kensaku Shinohara (Kazuki). The play is both an intimate examination of how we move forward from life-altering events, and a study of how we experience time, asking whether we can ever be alive to the present moment. 

The Acting Company Presents William Shakespeare's TWELFTH NIGHT

The Acting Company (Ian Belknap, Artistic Director; Elisa Spencer-Kaplan, Executive Director) presents William Shakespeare's beloved comedy, Twelfth Night, directed by Tony nominee Maria Aitken (The 39 Steps) with a dynamic cast of The Acting Company alumni and ensemble members of Delaware's Resident Ensemble Players (REP). When her ship is wrecked, Viola washes ashore in the unfamiliar land of Illyria and embarks on a journey to find her lost brother. Brimming with music, love and longing, Shakespeare's enchanting play transports audiences to a world of comedic mayhem, mistaken identity and unrequited passion. This co-production with the Resident Ensemble Players comes to Polonsky Shakespeare Center (262 Ashland Pl, Brooklyn), May 10-27.

THE JEWISH KING LEAR Comes to Metropolitan Playhouse

Obie Award winning Metropolitan Playhouse (220 E. 4th Street) presents Jacob Gordin's The Jewish King Lear, one of the foundational works of the "Golden Age" of American Yiddish theater, in a new English translation by Ruth Gay, from April 27 through May 27, 2018. The play, which had its Lower East Side debut in 1892 and was written as a star vehicle for Jacob Adler, one of the greatest actors of the New York's Yiddish stage. Metropolitan Playhouse welcomes back director Ed Chemaly (The Easiest Way, The Spirit House) to helm the production.

MOAD MDC To Open Renovated Galleries With New Exhibitions, New Mission And New Identity

Museum of Art and Design at Miami Dade College (MOAD) will inaugurate its newly renovated galleries with two outstanding exhibitions, By the People: Designing a Better America and This Situation, a work by the acclaimed British-German artist Tino Sehgal. The reopening of MOAD's facility in the historic Freedom Tower coincides with its new focus and new graphic identity. A VIP reception and open house will be held for MOAD members and media on April 6. Both exhibitions will open to the general public on April 7.

North Coast Repertory Theatre Presents AN EVENING WITH GROUCHO

Des Moines Metro Opera (DMMO) announces an exciting concert and reception featuring internationally acclaimed countertenor John Holiday on Sunday, April 8 at 7:00pm. Featuring an eclectic mix of opera, jazz and gospel selections, the concert will be held in the sanctuary at Plymouth Church in Des Moines. Scott Arens, DMMO's director of marketing and public relations, will be joining Mr. Holiday at the piano for the performance.

Headlong Announce New Penelope Skinner Show MEEK At The Traverse

Cast And Creatives Announced For U.S. Premiere of DR. SEUSS'S THE LORAX

The Old Globe, together with Children's Theatre Company (CTC), and in partnership with The Old Vic, today announced details for the Minneapolis and San Diego productions of Dr. Seuss's The Lorax in its U.S. premiere. The production, based on the book The Lorax by Dr. Seuss, is adapted for the stage by David Greig (Artistic Director of the Royal Lyceum Theatre Company; recent work: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Cover My Tracks) with music and lyrics written by Charlie Fink (Frontman/songwriter for the hit musical group, Noah and the Whale (2007-2015). H. Adam Harris, along with Meghan Kreidler and Rick Miller puppeteering, will play The Lorax. Joining them is Steven Epp as The Once-ler. Playing multiple roles in the ensemble are Ansa Akyea, Christopher Becknell, Stephanie Bertumen, Brian Bose, Ryan Colbert, Lynnea Doublette, Johannah "Joh" Easley, Rajane Katurah, Ryan Lear, Ryan Dean Maltz, Emily Michaels King, and Autumn Ness.

The Colburn School Selects Frank Gehry To Design Campus Expansion

Sel Kardan, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Colburn School, today announced that this leading institution for music and dance has selected Frank Gehry to design a campus expansion adjacent to its existing facilities in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles. Andrew Millstein, Chairman of the Colburn School, and Carol Colburn Grigor, Life Chairman Emeritus, joined Kardan in announcing the project, which will heighten the School's presence in a cultural corridor that includes Walt Disney Concert Hall, The Music Center, the Museum of Contemporary Art, and The Broad, and will make this area of Downtown one of the largest concentrations in the world of performing and visual arts organizations.

APTP's OFRENDA Begins Performances April 25

The award-winning Albany Park Theater Project (APTP) youth theater ensemble celebrates its 21st birthday with the world premiere of 'Ofrenda,' a collection of real-life stories about creating home in turbulent times. 'Ofrenda' is performed by a cast of 33 teens in the company's home theater in one of the most diverse immigrant neighborhoods in the United States. Preview performances begin April 25 at the Laura Wiley Theater, 5100 N. Ridgeway Ave.  Tickets go on sale March 21 for performances through June 2.

The Irish Are Coming To Shakespeare Theatre Company in WAITING FOR GODOT

Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC) will host Druid, Ireland's most celebrated theatre company, and their critically acclaimed production of Waiting for Godot. Directed by Tony Award-winner Garry Hynes, Druid's production of Samuel Beckett's absurd, anarchic masterpiece will make its regional premiere at the Lansburgh Theatre (450 7th Street, NW) from April 17 through May 20, 2018 before it travels on to Chicago.

The Cleveland Orchestra Announces 101st Season For 2018-2019

As the celebrations, performances, and successes of The Cleveland Orchestra's Centennial Season continue toward its conclusion this spring, the Orchestra has announced details of its 101st season for 2018-2019. Aspects of the celebratory spirit continues - with a 100th Birthday concert in July for the Cleveland community and Centennial Gala in September.
