Photo Flash: First Look at Off-Broadway Revival of Eric Bogosian's TALK RADIO

by Tyler Peterson - Sep 15, 2014

Variations Theatre Group is currently presenting Eric Bogosian's Pulitzer Prize-nominated play TALK RADIO. Opening Night is tomorrow, September 16th at the Chain Theatre. Inspired by the 1984 murder of controversial shock jock Alan Berg, TALK RADIO is set in a Cleveland radio station over the course of Barry Champlain's two-hour broadcast as he's being scrutinized that night by producers fixated on taking the show national, and fueled as always by coffee, cocaine and Jack Daniel's. Barry's jousts with his unseen callers-ranging from a white supremacist to a woman obsessed with her garbage disposal-are interspersed with confrontations by his ex-deejay pal and his sometime girlfriend/producer.

Photo Flash: First Look - David Rabe's Revised HURLYBURLY, Opening Tomorrow

by Tyler Peterson - Feb 18, 2014

Variations Theatre Group is presenting a rare New York City revival of David Rabe's Hurlyburly at The Chain Theatre. Opening Night is tomorrow (Wednesday) at 7 PM. The original production of Hurlyburly took New York by storm in 1984, directed by Mike Nichols. Although the long-running Broadway hit was presented in three acts, David Rabe pared his script into a leaner two-act version for the 2005 Off-Broadway revival starring Ethan Hawke and Bobby Cannavale. It is this revised version which is being presented by Variations Theatre Group by special arrangement with the playwright. Check out a first look below!
