Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre (PBT) has named Dr. Kathryn Gigler as the organization's acting executive director, effective July 1, 2022. Dr. Gigler has served as PBT's Director of Education and Community Engagement since 2019.

The Orange Tree Theatre today announces the full cast for Pierre Marivaux's The False Servant, translated by Martin Crimp, whose prolific international career began at the Orange Tree Theatre, including the recent hit revival of Dealing with Clair. The Greek National Opera will present four performances of a new production of Verdi's Rigoletto as part of the Athens Epidaurus Festival on June 2, 5, 8 and 11.

To put the biggest problem in contemporary terms, terms which doubtless occurred to many members of the audience besides just me: Is this a play about Zelensky or is it a play about Putin? You can characterize it as the story of a small army’s gallant victory against a much larger and better-equipped force, or you can talk about it as the story of an unprovoked invasion of a sovereign foreign land in service of an improbable abstract notion of the invading country’s imperial rights.

Yale Repertory Theatre will conclude its 2022 season with Between Two Knees. The play, written by the intertribal sketch comedy troupe The 1491s and directed by Eric Ting, is presented with Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Between Two Knees will be performed May 12–June 4 at Yale Repertory Theatre (1120 Chapel Street).

The Laboratory for Global Performance & Politics (The Lab) will present the return of The Gathering, a 4-day theater festival on Georgetown University's campus.

 New York Classical Theatre is producing New Visions, a developmental program of original plays by inspired by “classics.” Readings are free and open to the public.

TheatreWorks Silicon Valley will present Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner August Wilson’s sweeping drama Gem of the Ocean. This seminal classic will be directed by Artistic Director Tim Bond, a close friend of the late playwright and a leading interpreter of his work, making his TheatreWorks directorial debut with this play.

Organizers of the GI Film Festival San Diego are thrilled to announce a diverse film lineup for its annual event happening May 17-21, 2022 at the Museum of Photographic Arts (MOPA) in Balboa Park. The film festival is dedicated to presenting films and events for, by and about military and veterans, and is set to return to in-person screenings for the first time since 2019. First Look Sonoma, Paul Dresher Ensemble, and Presidio Theatre Performing Arts Center will present the world premiere in San Francisco of a new opera, Both Eyes Open, by composer, Max Giteck Duykers and librettist, Philip Kan Gotanda. Directed by Melissa Weaver and conducted by Benjamin Makino. An open dress rehearsal/preview is set for Friday, June 24, 2022 at 2:00pm, while the show premieres on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 8:00pm and Sunday June 26, 2022 at 7:00 pm. All performances take place at the Presidio Theatre Performing Arts Center, 99 Moraga Avenue, San Francisco, California, in Presidio National Park. 

Martha Redbone presents her Roots Project in her Broad Stage debut on Saturday, April 9 at 7:30pm. A performance not to be missed, Billboard Magazine described Martha Redbone as “a true original; the kind of artist who sets trends, as opposed to following them.”

ENSEMBLE STUDIO THEATRE along with The Alfred P. Sloan Foundation have announced the lineup for the 2022 First Light Festival, part of the EST/Sloan Project to develop plays exploring science and technology.  

The American Modern Opera Company (AMOC), led by Artistic Director Zack Winokur, has received a $750,000 grant from the celebrated Andrew W. Mellon Foundation “to support visionary artists in collaborative processes that re-envision a long-enduring art form in an artist-centric and contemporary manner.” 

EXPO CHICAGO, the international exposition of contemporary and modern art, today announced the ninth edition of EXPO ART WEEK, April 4 – 10, 2022. 

Theatre Communications Group has announced the publication of Gary: A Sequel to Titus Andronicus by Taylor Mac. The play was originally commissioned by HERE Arts Center with the support of The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation's National Playwright Residency Program, administered in partnership with HowlRound. Gary: A Sequel to Titus Andronicus received its world premiere on Broadway in the spring of 2019.

The National Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorale, in partnership with The Washington Chorus, will present America’s Requiem – A Knee on The Neck. The long-awaited season program features the world premiere of Adolphus Hailstork and Herbert Martin’s A Knee on The Neck alongside Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Requiem.
