Emmy Award winner Sally Struthers will star in the Alhambra's next performance, Hello, Dolly! Ms. Struthers, who rise to acting fame began with the hit TV show All in the Family, is making her first appearance at the Alhambra and joins a growing list of stars that has recently included Jamie Farr, Barry Williams and Loretta Switt. First produced on Broadway in 1964, winning ten Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Hello, Dolly will open at the Alhambra on February 29.

Hello, Dolly has become one of the most enduring musical theater hits, enjoying three Broadway revivals and international success. BroadwayWorld.com reported the news exclusively on January 9, 2012 and now the The Public Theater has officially announced the line-up for the 50th Anniversary Shakespeare in the Park season at the Delacorte. Daniel Sullivan, who directed acclaimed productions of All's Well That Ends Well, The Merchant of Venice and Twelfth Night in the Park, will return to direct AS YOU LIKE IT in June with Lily Rabe as Rosalind.
The second show of the 50th Anniversary summer season will be Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's beloved musical INTO THE WOODS, directed by Timothy Sheader with co-direction by Liam Steel. Based on the Olivier Award-winning Regent's Park Open Air Theatre London production in 2010, The Public Theater's INTO THE WOODS will be an all new production with an American cast and designers and will be staged in one of the most beautiful outdoor venues in the world-the Delacorte Theater. INTO THE WOODS will begin performances at the end of July.

Today in 1964, Hello Dolly! opened at the St. James Theatre, where it ran for 2844 performances. The show features lyrics and music by Jerry Herman and a book by Michael Stewart, based on Thornton Wilder's 1938 farce The Merchant of Yonkers, which Wilder revised and retitled The Matchmaker in 1955. Hello, Dolly! was first produced on Broadway by David Merrick in 1964, winning the Tony Award for Best Musical and nine other Tonys. The show album Hello, Dolly! An Original Cast Recording was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2002. We are sad to report the news today, that Harry Kullijian, husband of Broadway legend, Carol Channing, passed away on Monday in Southern California, just a few short days of his 92nd birthday.
Channing, performed the night before in 'A Carol Channing Chirstmas' at the Agua Caliente Resort & Casino in Rancho Mirage, California and the next day Kullijian collapsed at home, and died from what the Modesto Bee describes as an aneurysm related condition, that he had been treated for two years prior.
