The international movement and entertainment company, Pilobolus (Executive Producer, Itamar Kubovy; Renee Jaworski and Matt Kent, artistic directors), kicks-off its first ever Pilobolus Five Senses Festival this weekend. Totem Pole Playhouse, America's beloved summer theatre, located in Caledonia State Park between Gettysburg and Chambersburg, PA, will open its 68th summer season with the Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat starring Broadway veteran, Matt Rosell from Les Miserables, as 'Joseph' and Marie Eife as the 'Narrator.'

The Center for Ballet and the Arts at New York University (CBA), the first international institute devoted to the creation and academic study of ballet, today announced the 27 artists and scholars who will serve as CBA Fellows in the 2018-19 academic year. The group - which represents The Center's largest and most far-reaching cohort yet - features distinguished individuals in a range of disciplines, including scholar Cecile Feza Bushidi, lighting designer Brandon Stirling Baker, choreographer Chase Brock, choreographer, filmmaker, and dancer Pontus Lidberg, and scholar Janice Ross, among others.

The York Theatre Company in association with Documentary Arts presents the world premiere of the new musical Lonesome Blues, based on the true story of legendary bluesman Blind Lemon Jefferson, created by Alan Govenar (Texas in Paris) and Akin Babatunde (Blind Lemon Blues), directed by Katherine Owens (How Is It That We Live or Shakey Jake + Alice), performed by Akin Babatunde with David Weiss on guitar.

Continuing the momentum created with the current season launch of its Music Knows No Borders series, Executive Director Thor Steingraber unveils the Younes and Soraya Nazarian Center for the Performing Arts' 2018-19 Season, which features four world premieres, two American premieres, several of the world's greatest orchestras, innovative jazz programs, two tributes to Hollywood legends, Broadway classics plus artists from 18 different nations who will appear on stage at The Soraya next season.  New Subscription Series tickets will go on sale May 1, 2018.

March has officially been Women's History Month in the U.S. since 1987. In 2018, Pride Films and Plays will celebrate its own 'Women-Loving-Women's History Month' with HISTORY LEZONS, a showcase of nine short plays about women of previous eras - some historical, some fictional, some a combination of both. 

This past weekend, theatergoers had the exciting opportunity to attend 'Ain't Misbehavin' The Fats Waller Musical' directed by Andre De Shields at New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC). Since opening the 2016 - 2017 season last September, New York City Opera has reestablished itself as a vital part of New York City's cultural landscape, delivering new productions, New York premieres and sold-out performances. The season opened with a critically acclaimed double bill of Leoncavallo's Pagliacci and Rachmaninoff's Aleko bringing the latter to the New York stage for the first time. In November, City Opera presented the New York premiere of Tobin Stokes' Iraq War opera, Fallujah. Last month City Opera's new production of Leonard Bernstein's Candide, directed by Broadway legend Harold Prince became a highlight of the New York season, with a run that was extended from six to ten sold-out performances.

Pioneers Go East Collective will present the World Premiere of American Mill No. 2, a new music-theatre and documentary work written and directed by Gian Marco Lo Forte, with music by Kamala Sankaram, and choreography by Maura Nguyen Donohue. The production, which is devised, performed and written by the Pioneers Go East Collective will begin on March 30, 2017, and run through April 9, 2017 at A.R.T./NY Theatres (502 West 53rd Street at 10th Avenue) as a limited engagement.

American Bard Theater Company presents Visionary Voices, three poignant, tantalizing plays by two pioneering women playwrights, exploring gender roles, race, and death in America's early twentieth century. Aimee Todoroff and Tonya Pinkins direct. The evening of one-act works include Trifles by Susan Glaspell (1916), Exit: An Illusion by Marita Bonner (1929), and The People by Susan Glaspell (1918). Performances will be staged at the Gloria Maddox Theatre, 151 West 26th Street, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001 from February 15-March 5, 2017.

The performance schedule has been changed for 'Light Up The Night,' a theatrical concert of rediscovered and restored Yiddish theater songs by Ellstein, Goldfaden, Olshanetsky, Rumshinsky, and Secunda, to be presented by National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (NYTF) January 1 in Edmond J. Safra Hall at Museum of Jewish Heritage, 36 Battery Place, Manhattan.  Originally two shows were planned, at 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM.  The 2:00 PM performance continues as scheduled but the 6:00 PM performance has been canceled.

This morning, The Recording Academy and 2016 GRAMMY Best New Artist, Meghan Trainor, kicked off this year's GRAMMY Awards nominations by revealing nominees in the four General Field categories (Best New Artist, Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year, and Album Of The Year) live on 'CBS This Morning.

 To ring in the New Year, on January 1 National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (NYTF) will present 'Light Up The Night,' a concert of rediscovered and restored pre- and post-WWII music from the theatrical works of the great composers of the Golden Age of Yiddish Theater.  These include Ellstein, Goldfaden, Olshanetsky, Rumshinsky and Secunda.  All are leading songwriters from the era of 'The Golden Bride,' which was presented by Folksbiene Theatre in 2015 and 2016.  The cast will feature performers who were acclaimed in that production, backed by a 16-piece orchestra.  The production is in Yiddish with projected supertitles.  The full concert will be offered twice, at 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM, in Edmond J. Safra Hall at Museum of Jewish Heritage, 36 Battery Place.

Brooklyn's acclaimed Brave New World Repertory Theatre will present the world premiere of The Plantation, a bold new adaptation of Anton Chekhov's The Cherry Orchard set in 1870 Virginia after emancipation and the civil war, but before the onset of Jim Crow.
