Casting has been finished for The First Nudie Musical a new musical based on the hit cult film from the 1970s comes to the stage in a two-night only staged reading as part of the LA Festival of New Musicals.

On Thursday June 18 James McMullan is in the hot seat with Mr. Davis. Mr. McMullan is known as the man behind the ?look of Lincoln Center theatre.? His theatrical posters are renowned and his 1976 New York Magazine cover illustration inspired the imagery for the film Saturday Night Fever. Schwartz, an American musical theatre lyricist and composer, is a three-time Grammy Award winner; four-time Academy Award winner; and a nine-time Tony Award nominee. The revue includes songs from his works Wicked, Pocahontas, Godspell, and Pippin sung by veteran Broadway performers Julia Murney (Wicked, The Wild Party), David Burnham (Wicked, Light in the Piazza), and Farah Alvin (Grease, Saturday Night Fever). The production is directed by Gordon Greenberg (Happy Days: The Musical).

Theatrical Producers Jeff Gardner and Ken Denison, are pleased to announce that they have assembled an all-star cast for a reading of their new musical GRUMPY OLD MEN: THE MUSICAL to be presented in New York City in October. The reading is not open to the public, and is by invitation only.

Casting has been announced for VANITIES, A New Musical by Jack Heifner, with music and lyrics by David Kirshenbaum, directed by two-time Tony Award-winner Judith Ivey. Starring Lauren Kennedy (Spamalot, Side Show) as Mary, Sarah Stiles (Avenue Q, …Spelling Bee) as Joanne and Anneliese van der Pol (Beauty and the Beast, TV's 'That's So Raven') as Kathy, VANITIES will open on Broadway in the Fall of 2008 at a theatre to be announced.

Now that the 50th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony is history, and before the Tony Awards season sneaks up on us, it might be a good time to do a little investigating into the relationship between the category that both award shows recognize-Best Musical, of course.
