'I will do so. Till then, think of the world,' Cassius says this to Brutus in William Shakespeare's Julius Caesar. Julius Caesar is Shakespeare's gripping political drama about the fall of Julius Caesar in the hands of a group of conspirators led by Brutus and Cassius. Prince William Little Theatre's production of Julius Caesar doesn't take place in the play's traditional time period and this is certainly for the better. In this production, 'the world' that Cassius refers to isn't Rome, but Russia.

A long, long time ago, in a land far, far away…a man named George Fredric Handel crafted an opera entitled Rinaldo. A few hundred years later, an opera company that prides itself in bringing a fresh perspective to the art form added their own charms to the libretto. Under the guise of the Star Wars franchise, Fresco Opera Theater, under the direction of Melanie Cain, has created a nerd haven in The Overture's cozy Playhouse Theater entitled Rinaldo and the Galactic Crusades.

In Love and Warcraft, a new play by Madhuri Shekar at No Rules Theatre Compan,y is full of heart, overflowing with warmth and good humor to balance the challenges of intimacy in a world that does not respond logically to strategy and commands. The production, directed by No Rules Theatre Company Artistic Director Joshua Morgan, features a strong and engaging new script by award-winning playwright Madhuri Shekar. But it is the cast that makes the play so memorable. There is a connection and warmth among them that draws us in despite the characters' quirky foibles that make them so human and relatable.

There's few magic changes, but Grease is still as automatic, systematic, and hydromantic as ever. The recent Broadway revival of Grease races into Chicago's Auditorium Theater an energetic cast and sparkles aplenty. This production rides in from the reality show 'Grease: You're the One That I Want' where contestants competed for the leading roles.

Have you ever gone to a show and thought about how much room there was on a stage? Some shows I go to, it seems like there is hardly any room for the actors to get around, and I leave impressed by all that they were able to do. Now imagine the stage at Des Moines Performing Arts. How many people do you think would be able to fit on that stage. I don't have a number, but I got a good idea last night attending the Des Moines stop of a?oeThe Choir of Mana?? on Wednesday night.

For the second time in the past few years, the Disney favorite BEAUTY AND THE BEAST is in New Orleans. If you caught the show a couple of seasons ago (read my review here), you know that this is one of the most magical productions currently running! It's a classic story with a great message about seeing beyond a person's exterior and trying to get to know them for the person they are inside. Belle certainly sees beyond the Beast's exterior, and through her passionate care, helps the residents of his castle to reclaim their humanity.
