After a mini-tour around the United States beginning in 2016, the new musical adaptation of FREAKY FRIDAY will be coming to the Disney Channel over the summer. As it did on stage, the TV movie will star Broadway favorite Heidi Blickenstaff as one half of the mother-daughter duo at the center of the body-swapping story. She will be joined by Cozi Zuehlsdorff as the other half of the pair. Check out the first look at the film below!

Omaha Performing Arts will provide schools with resources and support to produce their very own 30 - minute Disney KIDS musicals in 2019 at no cost.

This summer, audiences can enjoy FREE entertainment at Piedmont Park! Horizon Theatre's comedic adaptation of Freaky Friday will return to the stage at Piedmont Park for a limited engagement from June 20-23, with all performances beginning at 7:30 p.m. Families and kids of all ages are encouraged to pack a picnic and enjoy the delightfully spunky musical based off of the popular Disney movies. Past Horizon Theatre shows at Piedmont Park include Nobody Loves You (2017), The Toxic Avenger (2016) and Avenue Q (2015).

A legion of “Descendants” fans received confirmation of the long-awaited news of a “Descendants 3” movie tonight, via an interstitial that aired during a programming event for Disney's “ZOMBIES” on Disney Channel. The intriguing message, featuring “Mal” (daughter of Maleficent), alludes to a new villain character – Mal's father – joining the hugely popular story of the teenage sons and daughters of Disney's most infamous villains. Loyal fans have suspected and even demanded a “trequel” and have skillfully tracked clues across social media and the internet of recent pre-production activities in Vancouver, Canada. “Descendants 3” will begin production there in summer for a debut next year on Disney Channel.

Goodman Theatre announces the five Chicagoland elementary schools that have been selected to participate in the 2018 "Disney Musicals in Schools" program, an outreach initiative developed by Disney Theatrical Productions to create sustainable theater programs in under-resourced elementary schools. Coordinated by Goodman Theatre artists Adrian Azevedo and Anna Gelman, under the leadership of Walter Director of Education and Engagement Willa J. Taylor, the five area public elementary schools received performance rights to a Disney musical of their choice, at no cost.

Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) presents the second workshop in the series How to Wrote a Musical That Works, Conflict & Obstacles, onSunday, February 25, 2018 from 10am - 6pm at NOLA Rehearsal Studio, 244 W 54th St., 5th floor, Studio 5. Submission fee is $10 for members, $20 for non-members. If accepted, it will be applied to a participation fee of $100 ($80 for TRU members). Those not selected will be invited and encouraged to attend the workshop as observers. The price is $55 ($35 for TRU members). The University of Notre Dame's Department of Film, Television, and Theatre (FTT) announces the 29th Annual Notre Dame Student Film Festival, in the Browning Cinema at the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center, January 26 through 28.
