Gloucester Stage Company continues its 37th season of professional theater on Cape Ann with a limited run of Jason Robert Brown's Songs For A New World from August 4 through August 27 at 267 East Main Street, Gloucester, MA. Songs For A New World with music and lyrics by three time Tony Award winner Jason Robert Brown is a stirring musical journey examining the moments of decision and difficult choices faced in everyday life. Known for such Broadway hits as Parade, The Bridges of Madison County, Honeymoon in Vegas, and The Last Five Years, Mr. Brown artfully blends pop, jazz and gospel in solos and ensemble styles to create this inspiring song cycle.  Directed by Gloucester Stage Artistic Director Robert Walsh, the production features five singers including Tony Award nominee Barbara Walsh, Broadway veterans Rockport's Wendy Waring and Jack Donahue, Berklee College of Music graduate Chris Pittman and  Brandeis' Nyah Macklin, all four in their Gloucester Stage debut. According to Director and GSC Artistic Director Walsh, "Songs For A New World is an enthralling evening of storytelling through song and movement reminiscent of Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well and Living in Paris. We are so fortunate to have such a talented group of actor-singers to bring this work to our audience. It's a particular treat to work with my cousin Barbara again after so many years!  Wendy, Jack, Chris and Nyah are also incredibly fun, hugely talented and all working together in such a fun way - it's a thrill!'

Broadway Dance Lab (BDL), a choreography incubator supporting new works of dance-driven theatre, has announced that Larry Keigwin, Lorin Latarro, JoAnn M. Hunter, Rosie Herrera, Al Blackstone, and Denzel Taylor will join Artistic Director Josh Prince as choreographers for Cycle 4.

The Public Theater will kick off the 2016-17 season in September with a free Public Works musical adaptation of TWELFTH NIGHT, conceived by Kwame Kwei-Armah and Shaina Taub, with music and lyrics by Shaina Taub. Directed by Kwame Kwei-Armah, TWELFTH NIGHT will once again feature over 200 actors and community members alongside five equity actors, including this year Nikki M. James as Viola and Jose Llana as Orsino.

The Tony Award winner for Best Musical in 2014, A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder, takes cheeky musical comedy to a whole new level when it takes the stage at Starlight Theatre on Aug. 9-14. Due to the Helen Hayes Awards ceremony, Shakespeare Theatre Company's THE TAMING OF THE SHREW will celebrate Opening Night and Press Night today, May 24. Previews begin on May 17 and performances continue through June 26 at STC's Sidney Harman Hall (610 F Street NW). 

The National Theatre has confirmed dates and venues for the 2017 tour of its multi-award-winning production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, adapted from Mark Haddon's best-selling book by Simon Stephens and directed by Marianne Elliott.  

Drury Lane Theatre continues its 2016-2017 season with Ira Levin's popular murder mystery, Deathtrap, directed by Artistic Director William Osetek. Deathtrap runs June 9 - August 14, 2016 at Drury Lane Theatre, 100 Drury Lane in Oakbrook Terrace. The Press Opening is Thursday, June 16 at 8:00 p.m.

The Broadway at Birdland concert series has announced that on Sunday, May 8 at 6 PM, Daniel Reichard will return to the historic room with a spirited variety show entitled 'Friends, Acquaintances, and Strangers.' This concert, which takes place on Mother's Day, will feature Reichard and an eclectic gathering of some of New York City's most talented performing artists.

Next at Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC), stage and screen actors Maulik Pancholy (Weeds, 30 Rock) and Peter Gadiot (Once Upon a Time in Wonderland) will be seen playing Katherina and Petruchio respectively in Ed Sylvanus Iskandar's bold new interpretation of Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew. Iskandar, known for his striking and immersive directorial style, completes STC's 2015-2016 season with this production, playing in Sidney Harman Hall from May 17 to June 26, 2016.
