Toronto – Out of a pool of 120 aspiring opera singers from across the country, the Canadian Opera Company has selected eight to compete at Centre Stage: Ensemble Studio Competition on November 3, 2015 at Toronto's Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts. Centre Stage is the COC's annual celebration of the next generation of opera stars. With the continued growth of its celebrated Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance at The Music Center series, and the success of its highly popular participatory dance experiences, The Music Center has become an important hub for dance in Los Angeles. The cherished comedy has been one of the most enduring works on American stages since its debut in 1937, and Church Street's Mad Cow Theatre Company has brought a charming production to Orlando through October 25th. Directed by David Russell, the original madcap family comedy still carries as many life lessons as it did nearly 80 years ago, all the while providing a laugh a minute. While there is a layer of subtext seemingly missing from this production, it is nonetheless thrilling to see such an incredibly talented cast dive head first into these delightfully bonkers characters.

From Korean synth-rock stars to visionary Japanese performance, heart-breaking Chinese theatre to haunting Indonesian puppetry this year's OzAsia Festival had it all. The performances will take place tonight, October 1, 2015, 8:00 p.m., October 2, 2015, 6:30 p.m. and October 3, 2015, 8:00 p.m. at Atlanta Symphony Hall at the Woodruff Arts Center. This is the first weekend of the Orchestra's Mostly Beethoven Festival, which will run through November 21, 2015.

Sunday night, Mark Walter topped off a year of Herculean accomplishment in preserving his father's legacy with a concert at the Cutting Room that went off like fireworks. Somewhere, composer /lyricist/arranger/pianist Cy Walter (right in Lloyd Diaz photo), was beaming. In 2015, Mark completed his father's discography filed with The Library of Congress, created a spanking new website, established The Cy Walter Foundation, and put out a two CD package of pre-1950's music with Harbinger Records. The Sunday concert, with expert Musical Direction by the inimitable Tedd Firth, was an opportunity not only to salute a multifaceted talent, but also for many, including Mark (photo below left), to hear songs that haven't been performed for 60 or 70 years.

To bring a new life to an undiscovered, underground gem, Termination Productions LLC will present 'The Head Hunter,' a dramatic encounter between a screenwriter and his mobster cousin, Off-Broadway at The Dorothy Streslin Theater October 31 to November 28, 2015. The play is written by Mark Borkowski, a New York-based playwright, screenwriter and actor who is now best known for playing Paul Sagorsky in the third and fourth seasons of HBO's Boardwalk Empire. Richard Gekko directs. It is a revival of a horrific yet hilarious two-hander that Backstage (Elias Stimac) labeled 'one of the best plays of 2000' when it debuted that year and which was showered with glowing web reviews during a modest resurrection in a studio theater last season.

Drew Gasparini will performing his show, 'DREW GASPARINI LIVE' at Webster Hall on Monday 9/28. Gasparini will be joined onstage with musical stars that include Zack Zadek.

Chicago Opera Theater (COT) kicks its 2015/16 season off with the Chicago premiere of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's passionate story of love, power, bloody conspiracies and revenge, 'Lucio Silla' at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance (205. E. Randolph Drive) Sept. 26 - Oct. 4, 2015. Directed and designed by COT General Director Andreas Mitisek and conducted by the acclaimed Francesco Milioto, the opera, was written by the musical prodigy as a teenager for Milan's Teatro Regio Ducal in 1772.

Mad Cow Theatre has announced the cast and creative team for its upcoming run of the classic comedy You Can't Take It With You, by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart. You Can't Take It With You is set to open Oct. 2, 2015 in the Harriett Theatre as the first production of Season 19.

The Michael Grandage Company presents the UK premiere of Anna Ziegler's PHOTOGRAPH 51, opening tonight 14 September at the Noel Coward Theatre and running until 21 November. Let's see what the critics had to say...
