THE DJANGO, downtown Manhattan’s premier jazz club, is commemorating Women’s History Month by hosting more than 20 leading female jazz artists on its stage during March.

On Friday, March 18, 2022, acclaimed pianist Orion Weiss will release his new album, Arc I: Granados, Janáček, Scriabin, on First Hand Records. Arc I is the inaugural album of an ambitious three-part series and features important works for solo piano from the frantic years of 1911-1913 - the precipice before World War I.

It's the second Papercuts LP, following 2018's excellent Parallel Universe Blues and the seventh album from the project overall. Angela Davis—Seize the Time was developed at the Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers University, where it is now on view. Joining Simon Russell Beale who will play Johann Sebastian Bach in the world premiere of Nina Raine's Bach & Sons are Samuel Blenkin as Carl, Pandora Colin as Maria Barbara, Ruth Lass as Katharina, Douggie McMeekin as Wilhelm, Racheal Ofori as Anna Magdalena and Pravessh Rana as Frederick the Great.

Simon Russell Beale will play JS Bach in the world premiere of Nina Raine's Bach & Sons, directed by Nicholas Hytner.  Performances at The Bridge are from 23 June – 9 September 2021 with opening night on 29 June 2021. 

The news is filled with reports of hate crimes against Asians during the last year. The numbers may be up, but the bigotry isn't new.

The criteria are that these shows have been nominated for Best Musical from the 3rd Tony Awards (the ceremony that started the Best Musical category) in 1949 to the nominations of what will now be the 74th Tony Awards in 2021. I will be determining their signs based upon their Broadway premiere date. With those rules in mind, here we go!
