The first North American tour of the Tony Award-winning Broadway revival of THE COLOR PURPLE begins tonight, October 7, 2017 in Schenectady, New York at Proctors. The tour will have its official opening October 17, 2017 in Baltimore, Maryland at The Hippodrome Theatre.

The Old Globe today announced the complete cast and creative team for the Globe's 20th annual production of Dr. Seuss's How the Grinch Stole Christmas!* The holiday musical will run November 4 - December 24 on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center.

Yale Repertory Theatre opens its 2017-18 season with An Enemy of the People by Henrik Ibsen, newly translated from the Norwegian by Paul Walsh, directed by James Bundy, tonight, October 6, through October 28 at Yale University Theatre (222 York Street). Opening Night is Thursday, October 12.

Playwrights Horizons presents THE TREASURER, the world premiere of a new play by Max Posner (Judy) and directed by three-time Lortel Award winner David Cromer (The Band's Visit, Our Town, Adding Machine). Goodman Theatre announces the lineup of its 14th annual New Stages Festival - a celebration and discovery of new work by some of the country's finest established and emerging playwrights. Over the course of three weeks, the annual festival offers Chicago theatergoers a first look at eight new works, completely free-of-charge.

This December, some of Broadway's brightest stars Leslie Odom Jr., Andrew Rannells, Sutton Foster with special guest Jonathan Groff, and Stephanie J. Last Friday, on the evening of September 15, immigrant musicians joined legendary Norwegian orchestra Stavanger Symphony Orchestra which has collaborated with Stewart Copeland, Faith No More side project Kaada/Patton, Detroit techno icon Jeff Mills, and other pop music luminaries for a free concert to an audience of both immigrants and native Norwegians, right in the foyer of the Stavanger Concert Hall. Producers announced today the first North American tour and full casting of the Tony Award-winning Broadway revival of THE COLOR PURPLE. Performances will begin October 7, 2017 in Schenectady, New York at Proctors and the tour will have its official opening October 17, 2017 in Baltimore, Maryland at The Hippodrome Theatre. The New York Philharmonic will present Bernstein's Philharmonic: A Centennial Festival, October 25-November 14, 2017,celebrating the former Philharmonic Music Director and Laureate Conductor on the centennial of his birth. The festival - which is part of the worldwide salute to the legacy of the renowned composer, conductor, pianist, and educator - will center on Bernstein's symphonic cycle, conducted by Alan Gilbert and Leonard Slatkin, complemented by other Bernstein works as well as by music by composers he admired and championed. In addition, the Philharmonic will present a Young People's Concert - the series that Bernstein famously brought to national attention through the television broadcasts - titled Inspirations and Tributes: "Celebrating Leonard Bernstein," conducted by Leonard Slatkin and featuring pianist Makoto Ozone on November 11. A number of other events - ranging from a marathon of Bernstein's Mahler recordings to a partnership with Harvard and University of Michigan to explore Bernstein as an educator and conductor - complement the concerts throughout the centennial season. Bernstein served as the Philharmonic's Music Director from 1958 to 1969, when he was named Laureate Conductor, a title he held until his death in 1990.
