The 11th Annual Las Vegas Film Festival, partnered with CineVegas,announced this morning the initial programming lineup for the 2018 Festival, to be held at Brenden Theatres and Palms Casino Resort June 6 – 10. Legendary singer and 2016 Kennedy Center Honoree Mavis Staples will headline a special evening for the 2018 Kennedy Center Spring Gala on Sunday, May 6, 2018, in the Concert Hall. An Evening with Mavis Staples and Special Guests pairs Staples with some of her most notable collaborators: singer-songwriter Neko Case, multi-instrumentalist Bruce Hornsby, and bluegrass-county artist Alison Krauss. Together, they will lead guests through Staples's 60-plus year catalog of genre-defying contributions to American music, including many seminal works that have woven her into the very fabric of gospel, soul, folk pop, R&B, Hip Hop, blues, and rock. The event is chaired by Frances and Craig Lindner.

Two powerful New York institutions, Long Island University (LIU) Brooklyn and the renowned theater company The New Group, have announced a new partnership to help train the next generation of great actors. A new B.F.A program in Acting for Theatre, Film and Television, starting in Fall 2018, will be founded on the studio model, where students will study stage acting, voice, and movement under the supervision and guidance of faculty in collaboration with the award-winning The New Group.

Premiere Stages at Kean University has announced the winner of the 2018 Premiere Play Festival, its annual competition for unproduced scripts written by playwrights affiliated with the greater metropolitan area. The theatre has named Linger by Glen Ridge resident Craig Garcia this year's winner, and will present the play's first professional production this summer as part of the theatre's 14th season in residence at Kean University. The season, which runs June-October, will also feature full productions of Brick City by Ridgewood resident Nicole Pandolfo and Black Tom Island by Jersey City resident Martin Casella, as well as a developmental workshop of this year's runner-up for the Premiere Play Festival, Baton by Brooklyn resident Deneen Reynolds-Knott.

Conceived by artists Lara Almarcegui, Isabel Lewis, and Santiago Cirugeda-led architecture studio Recetas Urbanas, 'Basilea' encourages reflection on a city's possibilities through a series of immersive projects connecting the City of Basel, its residents, and the over 90,000 fairgoers who attend the Basel fair annually. A Creative Time project commissioned by Art Basel, 'Basilea' will open to the public on May 23, culminating the week of Art Basel. The project marks Creative Time's first international public commission and the first collaboration between the artists. Art Basel, whose Lead Partner is UBS, will take place at Messe Basel from June 14 to June 17, 2018.

The Signature Theatre (Paige Evans, Artistic Director; James Houghton, Founder) Annual Gala will take place on Monday, March 12, 2018 at The Pershing Square Signature Center (located at 480 West 42nd Street between 9th & 10th Avenues). The event will celebrate the late Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Edward Albee and honor the passionate and visionary leadership of former President of the Signature Board of Trustees, Michael Rauch. The Gala is taking place on what would have been Edward Albee's 90th Birthday.
