Hylton Performing Arts Center announced today its 2019-2020 season of mainstage performances, featuring a diverse lineup of artists and ensembles across genres, as part of Hylton Presents, Hylton Family Series, Matinee Idylls, and the American Roots Series. The Hylton Center also announced the first Hylton Center EXTRA! for the season: the husband and wife duo and banjo icons, B la Fleck and Abigail Washburn, in a special concert event featuring their unique blend of alternative bluegrass. Grammy winning singer/songwriter, John Berry, has released a heartfelt and personal song from his latest project, Thomas Road. The endearing single entitled, 'The Richest Man,” was released with an exclusive announcement in Billboard Magazine on Friday. The song is dedicated to his dad who taught him that the most valuable things in life typically had very little to do with money. Watch the official video here.

Today, Steve Miller and Capitol/UMe are incredibly excited to announce plans for the May 24 global release of the collection's second volume, presenting nine more Steve Miller Band studio albums in a new 180-gram vinyl box set called Complete Albums Volume 2 (1977-2011). Spanning the band's multi-platinum 10th studio album, 1977's Book of Dreams, through 2011's Let Your Hair Down, the albums have all been remastered and are available now for preorder. From March 21 to April 7, Theater for the New City, 155 First Ave., will present Czechoslovak-American Marionette Theatre (CAMT) in an update of its perennially popular 'Johannes Dokchtor Faust, a Petrifying Puppet Comedye,' translated and directed by Vit Horejs. This classic of the Czech marionette repertoire is traditionally used to make fun of a king or a local mayor.  The company's adaptation was initially developed in 1990 and its topical references are being updated to the current topsy-turvy political climate.

Tonight, FOX will air their third live musical production. Following in the footsteps of Grease and A Christmas Story, the network will be presenting Jonathan Larson's Rent, a rock musical that is loosely based on Giacomo Puccini's 1896 opera, La boheme. The story follows a group of impoverished young artists struggling to survive and create a life in New York City's East Village in the thriving days of Bohemian Alphabet City, under the shadow of HIV/AIDS.

The California Camp Fire wildfires destroying homes and everything in their paths conjure a familiar feeling for Megan Edwards, whose home and worldly possessions were destroyed in the wildfires of late 1993. This year marks the 20th anniversary of her memoir Roads From the Ashes: An Odyssey in Real Life on the Virtual Frontier. To mark the occasion, publisher Imbrifex Books has released a new e-book edition.

This is the second title from John Asher that Freestyle Digital Media has acquired, following 2016's A BOY CALLED PO. Freestyle Digital Media, the digital film distribution division of Byron Allen's Entertainment Studios, has acquired the North American rights to Emma Forrest's directorial debut UNTOGETHER. Following its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in April, and starring Jamie Dornan (50 SHADES OF GREY), Jemima Kirke (HBO's “Girls”), Ben Mendelsohn (ROGUE ONE, Netflix's “Bloodline”), Lola Kirke (Amazon's “Mozart in the Jungle”), and Billy Crystal (WHEN HARRY MET SALLY), the film will hit select theaters nationwide February 8, 2019 along with all digital platforms.

February 8 will see the release via the venerable Bar/None label of Songs From Robin Hood Lane and From Memphis to New Orleans, two thought-provoking looks at an often overlooked period of Alex Chilton's long, curious career.  He was at the height of his cult star fame in the mid 1980s to mid 1990s when he made these recordings. It is some of his best most honest work oddly neglected for some time but delivered here for enthusiasts and neophytes alike. All these recordings have been out of print for decades.

The Eighth Annual Bickford Benefit Concert featuring an all-star ensemble of outstanding jazz artists from the Tri-State area comes to the Bickford Theatre at the Morris Museum for one night only on Monday, November 12, 2018 at 7:30 PM. The ensemble includes trumpeter/vocalist Bria Skonberg, cornetist Warren Vache, trombonist Mariel Bildsten, clarinetist Dan Levinson, pianist Rossano Sportiello, guitarist/vocalist Molly Ryan, bassist Rob Adkins, and drummer Mark McLean.  All of the ticket sales from this concert will go to support programming at the Bickford Theatre.

The Gish Prize Trust today announced that the inspired Music and Artistic Director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Gustavo Dudamel, has been selected to receive the 25th annual Dorothy and Lillian Gish Prize in recognition of his ongoing achievements as a conductor and an advocate for music education. Established in 1994 through the will of legendary stage and screen actress Lillian Gish, known as the First Lady of Cinema, the Dorothy and Lillian Gish Prize is one of the most prestigious honors given to artists in the United States and bears one of the largest cash awards, currently valued at approximately $250,000.

In this chew-and-spit industry, the Spin Doctors are the last men standing, still making music like their lives depend on it, still riding the bus, still shaking the room. They've never been a band for backslaps and self-congratulation. Even now, plans are afoot for a seventh studio album and another swashbuckling world tour, adding to their tally of almost two thousand shows. But faced with that milestone, even a band of their velocity takes a breath for reflection. “I'd never have guessed,” admits drummer Aaron Comess, “this would have turned into thirty years of making great music together.”

The arrival of Creedence Clearwater Revival's 50th anniversary brings an unprecedented celebration of everything the band contributed in their short but startlingly epochal time together (1968 - 1972). To commemorate this milestone, Craft Recordings is releasing a deluxe box set comprising the band's complete seven-album studio output: Creedence Clearwater Revival, Bayou Country, Green River, Willy and the Poor Boys, Cosmo's Factory, Pendulum and Mardi Gras.
