CAMINO REAL by Tennessee Williams Opens in New Orleans at the Marigny Opera House This July

You've never seen Tennessee Williams like this before. From the characters to the setting, nothing compares to Camino Real. The play takes place in a mythic border town situated in the Southwest, or perhaps tucked just inside of Mexico, which sits in the shadow of a gargantuan border wall built to keep the bad hombres out-or is it built to keep the residents of the town in? Two Dr. Phillips Center Applause Award Participants Win 2017 Jimmy Awards

Tony Moreno and Sofia Deler, two Orange County high school students from the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts's Applause Awards program won awards for Best Actor and Best Actress on Monday evening at The Jimmy Awards in New York City. Moreno and Deler competed against 72 other students from across the country for the top prize in a ceremony at Broadway's Minskoff Theatre that was hosted by 2017 Tony Award winner for Best Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical, Ben Platt, of Dear Evan Hansen. This is the first time in the 9-year history of the Jimmy Awards that both winners come from the same program and city. (more...)

La Razon Blindada ("Armored Reason") -This sublimely witty and provocative play, written and directed by Argentine playwright Aristides Vargas, was triply inspired by the classic novel "El Quixote" by Cervantes, "The Truth About Sancho Panza" by Franz Kafka, and testimonies from Chicho Vargas and other political prisoners held in Rawson Prison during Argentina's "Dirty War" of the 1970s. Jesus Castaños Chima and Tony Duran reprise their roles as political prisoners who are allowed to interact with one another for one hour a week - but must remain in their chairs and never stand.
