The Guthrie Theater today announced seven of the nine productions to be offered as part of the theater's 2017-2018 subscription season, including Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet and Todd Kreidler's Guess Who's Coming to Dinner on the Wurtele Thrust Stage, and Lillian Hellman's Watch on the Rhine, Noel Coward's Blithe Spirit, Danai Gurira's Familiar, Kia Corthron's world premiere adaptation of Ibsen's An Enemy of the People and Matthew Lopez's The Legend of Georgia McBride on the McGuire Proscenium Stage.

Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra Music Director Jeffrey Kahane conducts some of his top musical picks in this deeply personal orchestral program that includes the world premiere of Shiver and Bloom by rising composer Julia Adolphe on Saturday, March 18, 8 pm, at Glendale's Alex Theatre, and Sunday, March 19, 2017, 7 pm, at Royce Hall. 

In the final subscription concerts of his tenure as Music Director, Alan Gilbert will lead the New York Philharmonic joined by musicians from orchestras around the world in concerts celebrating the power of music to build bridges and unite people across borders. Those invited to participate include members of orchestras from Australia, China, Cuba, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Lebanon, Mexico, Russia, South Africa, South Korea, Turkey, Venezuela, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The New York Philharmonic will return to Bravo! Revolving around a real political figure, Gianni Agnelli, this fictional plot mixes satire with a strong political message. When wealthy Agnelli is injured in a failed kidnap attempt, he is rescued by humble Antonio, one of his employees. Antonio flees the scene when people start shooting at him, leaving his jacket on Agnelli's body. The rich and influential Agnelli is taken to hospital in Antonio's jacket, where he mistakenly has his face reconstructed in the poor Antonio's likeness. Chaotic confusion ensues as Antonio finds himself the chief suspect in a kidnap plot - against himself!

Berkeley Repertory Theatre today announced the world premiere production of Roe written by Lisa Loomer and directed by Bill Rauch. Roe is a co-production with the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and Arena Stage.
