The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust announces three events taking place in conjunction with the exhibition Behind Our Scenes at SPACE gallery in the Cultural District. The exhibition by five photographic artists exploring the relationship between the two-dimensional form and physical space through photographic installations and constructions is guest curated by Jen Saffron and is on view through January 26, 2014. SPACE (812 Liberty Avenue) is open during Gallery Crawl, the Trust's quarterly showcase of art and entertainment throughout the Cultural District, Friday, January 24, 5:30-9 p.m.

The Public Theater and Theatre for a New Audience will present three special screenings of Wallace Shawn and Andre Gregory's most beloved films, Andre Gregory: Before and After Dinner, Vanya on 42nd Street, and My Dinner With Andre, at Joe's Pub at The Public in August. Founded in 1979 by its Artistic Director, Jeffrey Horowitz, Theatre for a New Audience's next act is about to begin with the opening of its Center for Shakespeare and Classical Drama in Brooklyn. The inaugural production is Julie Taymor's staging of A Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare with original music by Elliot Goldenthal. Previews begin October 19 for an opening on November 2.

The two plays, THE DESIGNATED MOURNER and GRASSES OF A THOUSAND COLORS, will offer a long overdue retrospective of Shawn's work as well as an opportunity for him to appear on the New York stage again under Gregory's direction. The Public Theater presented Shawn's first play in New York, Our Late Night, in 1975, directed by Gregory.
