Jenna has the sweets and Nellie has the meats. Between Joe's Diner and Mrs. Lovett's Pie Shop, theatre-goers are getting pie in abundance this season at the Brooks Atkinson and Barrow Street Theatres. Just yesterday, two of the theatre community's most beloved pie makers -Jenna Hunterson and Mrs. Nellie Lovett (played by Betsy Wolfe and Carolee Carmello) met and BroadwayWorld was there!

Tickets go on sale to the general public on Monday, June 26 at 10:00am ET for SpongeBob SquarePants on Broadway at The Palace Theatre (1564 Broadway - Broadway at 47th Street). Preview performances begin Monday, November 6th with an official opening on Monday, December 4th.

Broadway star Betsy Wolfe joined the cast of Waitress just last night, June 13 in the lead role of expert pie-maker Jenna Hunterson. Wolfe is joined by Joe Tippett, who also steps into the role of Earl tonight. Drew Gehling will reprise the role he originated when he returns to the cast of Waitress on June 27, 2017 as Dr. Pomatter. Chris Diamantopoulos will play his final performance as Dr. Pomatter on June 25. The Brooks Atkinson Theatre just got a fresh look and Wolfe (along with producer Barry Weissler and her costars Caitlin Houlahan and Charity Angel Dawson)  helped unveil the makeover below!

'Though the question is never asked directly by the characters, the play demands the audience to answer, 'Why is art important?' She continued, 'Utpadel continues, 'And really, why is it? Art isn't always a pretty thing - this play proves it. There is unbelievable violence, hard language, and great tragedy in this play. Luke Gomez, the playwright, paints a world in which hope is far past a dying ember and has instead already faded to ash. No character is truly a good person. Why is showing the ugliness of human nature so important? Why, when the world we live in already has so much darkness?'
