Geffen Playhouse today announced the full cast for its world premiere adaptation of Key Largo, directed by Tony Award winner Doug Hughes (Doubt, Farragut North) and featuring Academy Award nominee Andy Garcia (Mama Mia! Here We Go Again, The Godfather: Part III) as Johnny Rocco. The Geffen Playhouse production is adapted by Jeffrey Hatcher and Andy Garcia, based on the play by Maxwell Anderson and the screenplay by Richard Brooks & John Huston. Original music is composed by 10-time GRAMMY Award winner and Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient Arturo Sandoval.

Studio Theatre is extending its season-opening production of Doubt: A Parable, adding five performances through October 13, 2019. John Patrick Shanley's masterpiece received the Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize for its compelling interrogation of certitude and scandal within the Catholic Church. Studio's production is directed by the theatre's Associate Artistic Director Matt Torney and is anchored by DC theatre treasure Sarah Marshall, distinguished by having performed at Studio more than any other actor. Joining Marshall are Christian Conn (Studio Theatre's Venus in Fur) as Father Flynn, Amelia Pedlow as Sister James, and Tiffany M. Thompson as Mrs. Muller.

Hudson Theatre Works will open on October 7th with Bunnies by New Jersey Playwright, Joanne Hoersch.  Bunnies tells the story of five Playboy Bunnies, who n 1973, at the New York Playboy Club, find themselves uplifted by the rise of feminism, haunted by the GoodBar murder and conflicted about their jobs as sex symbols, while they bond in humor and compassion over the course of one evening.

Following a highly acclaimed tour in 2018, The Original Theatre Company and The Anthology Group in association with Peter Stickney and York Theatre Royal's production of Alan Bennett's THE HABIT OF ART will return and tour the UK in 2020. Directed by Philip Franks and starring Matthew Kelly as Fitz (W. H. Auden) and David Yelland as Henry (Benjamin Britten). The tour begins on 18 March 2020 at Devonshire Park Theatre, Eastbourne.

During the Annual General Meeting held earlier today, the Shaw Festival announced positive financial results for the 2019 season. Kevin Patterson, Treasurer of the Board of Directors, shared with an audience of patrons, donors and company members that both sales and fundraising revenues achieved all-time highs, resulting in a $519,000 season surplus.

Many of The Shaw's amenities have benefitted from this infusion of funds. Based on the Province of Ontario's framework for reopening businesses and the further extension of the State of Emergency, the Shaw Festival is not able to proceed with the season as scheduled. As a result, The Shaw must cancel all performances and public events through September 15.

Sheffield Theatres today announce the full cast for Robert Hastie's new production of Coriolanus. The production follows his critically acclaimed productions of Julius Caesar and A Midsummer Night's Dream. Joining previously announced cast member Tom Bateman are Hermon Berhane, Mudassar Dar, Stella Gonet, Esther McAuley, Remmie Milner, Theo Ogundipe, Louis J Rhone, Eddie-Joe Robinson, Kate Rutter, Malcolm Sinclair, Katy Stephens, Ben Wiggins and Alex Young. Goodman Theatre Artistic Director Robert Falls has announced casting for his upcoming revival of Molly Sweeney by Brian Friel. In assuming the title role, Chicago favorite Kate Fry returns to the Goodman, following her recent appearance in Falls' production of The Winter's Tale. Joining Fry are stage and screen star Brendan Coyle (Downton Abbey), who returns to the Goodman following his triumphant appearance in last season's St. Nicholas by Conor McPherson, and Chicago's Christopher Donahue (Oedipus Rex at Court Theatre, Moby Dick at Lookingglass).

Vinnette Carroll was an American playwright, actress, and theatre director best known for being the was the first African-American woman to direct on Broadway, with her 1972 production of the musical Don't Bother Me, I Can't Cope. Until Liesl Tommy's 2016 nomination for Eclipsed, Carroll was the only African-American woman to have received a Tony Award nomination for direction.

The world-renowned South African theater artists Fred Abrahamse and Marcel Meyer have been bringing vibrant works to the Provincetown Theater stage (238 Bradford Street, Provincetown, MA.), in conjunction with the annual Tennessee Williams Theater Festival, since 2013. This year, Abrahamse and Meyer return for a special month-long artists' residency at the Provincetown Theater to create their new interpretation of Williams' The Night of the Iguana for the 2019 TWTF (Sept 26-29).
