The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra under the baton of its newly appointed Chief Conductor Daniele Gatti returns to Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage for two back-to-back concerts in January, marking the first time the orchestra will travel to the United States with Mr. Gatti, who is only the seventh Chief Conductor in the orchestra's 129-year history. The Boston Modern Orchestra Project (BMOP), the nation's premier orchestra dedicated exclusively to commissioning, performing, and recording new orchestral music, honors trailblazing American composer Joan Tower in a one-night only concert championing five of her orchestral works. In collaboration with the New England Conservatory, the program celebrates the end of her NEC residency as well as her milestone 80th birthday (b. 09.06.38).

Antonio Pappano will return to the Philharmonic to conduct Britten's Piano Concerto (1945 version), with The Mary and James G. Wallach Artist-in-Residence Leif Ove Andsnes as soloist; Saint-Sa ns's Symphony No. 3, Organ, with Philharmonic organist Kent Tritle; and Vaughan Williams's Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis, Thursday, February 8, 2018, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, February 9 at 2:00 p.m.; and Saturday, February 10 at 8:00 p.m.

Tenri Cultural Institute presents the world premiere of Emily Bront Through Life and Death, A Chainless Soul, a poetic mono-opera in one act based on selected poems of Emily Bront by composer Akemi Naito on Friday, January 5th and Saturday, January 6th at 8pm. Honoring the 200th Anniversary of the birth of Emily Bront in 2018, this mono-opera is a collaborative work with mezzo-soprano Jessica Bowers, pianist Marilyn Nonken, actor Robert Ian Mackenzie, and visual artist Toshihiro Sakuma, whose Healing exhibition will be on view.

Ehrenkranz Artistic Director Jane Moss today announced Lincoln Center's 2017 White Light Festival, which runs from October 18 through November 15. With more than 35 events presented in 13 venues throughout the city, including U.S. and New York premieres and nine commissions, the eighth annual international festival will explore transcendence, interior illumination, and faith in the human spirit, as exhibited through artistic expression across continents and centuries. The multidisciplinary festival takes its name from a quotation by Estonian composer Arvo Part: "Icouldcomparemymusic to white light, which contains all colors. Only a prism can divide the colors and make them appear; this prism could be the spirit of the listener."
