Long Beach Opera believes that discussions inspired by art should extend beyond the lobby of the theater. For this reason, LBO is using its 40th anniversary season theme, Justice, as a catalyst to present its brand new five-event series called Community Conversations February 9 through June 6.

Tim O'Brien recently announced a headlong leap back into traditional bluegrass with his new full-length album, Tim O'Brien Band. Due for release on March 15, 2019, Tim O'Brien Band, the title a sly nod to traditional music's often eponymous band names, is a collection of not just old-school leaning music, but also of world-class musicians perfectly aligned in intention and ability. In addition to Tim, Mike Bub (bass), Shad Cobb (fiddle),Jan Fabricius (vocals/mandolin) and Patrick Sauber (banjo/guitar) make up this unstoppable band, who, from recent live performances, may be familiar to Tim O'Brien fans. Tim says, “This crew has the potential to make ten more records together and never reach the limit of the possibilities.” The only guest on the recording is O'Brien's Hot Rize bandmate Bryan Sutton, who lends his distinctive guitar playing to two tracks.

David R. Jimenez, President of the Board of Directors of Hartford Stage, announces that OBIE Award-winning director Melia Bensussen has been named the next Artistic Director of the Tony Award-winning theatre. She will assume the role in June.

Country Music Hall of Fame member Randy Travis was honored with the Lee Greenwood Award by the 501(c)3 organization, Helping A Hero, at their Lee Greenwood & Friends concert in Houston on Monday. The concert celebrated Christmas and patriotism while honoring and raising money to build homes for wounded warriors.

The nonprofit Sundance Institute announced today the showcase of new independent feature films selected across all categories for the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. The Festival hosts screenings in Park City, Salt Lake City and at Sundance Mountain Resort, from January 24 - February 3, 2019.

Nickelodeon, in partnership with Red Tail Productions, LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Red Tail Entertainment, and CB Entertainment, announced today Nickelodeon's Double Dare Live, the multi-city live stage tour inspired by the iconic TV game show Double Dare.  Double Dare Live will play at NJPAC in Newark, N.J. on Today, November 15, at 7:30 p.m. featuring original host Marc Summers and his beloved sidekick Robin Russo, the live stage show. Tickets go on sale to the general public Friday, August 24 at 10:00 a.m.

The Actors' Gang has announced an extension of 'Johnny Got His Gun' at the Ivy Substation, adding two performances, a matinee performance on November 11th, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I and Veteran's Day and an evening performance on November 14th. The stage adaptation of Academy Award-winning screenwriter Dalton Trumbo's war novel, Johnny Got His Gun, written by Bradley Rand Smith and directed by Tim Robbins, began previews on October 6th and opened October 13th.

ABC celebrates the most wonderful time of the year with special '25 Days of Christmas' programming starting Dec. 1. The network joins Freeform, Disney Channel, Disney XD and Disney Junior in this fan-favorite TV event. The 'Kickoff to Christmas' begins in late November with perennial holiday treat 'Santa Claus is Comin' to Town.' The month of December is filled with special Christmas-themed episodes, the return of 'The Great Christmas Light Fight' and 'The Great American Baking Show: Holiday Edition,' and timeless animated classics and holiday films. The celebration continues after Christmas with New Year's-themed programming ringing in 2019.

Los Angeles' favorite clown troupe Four Clowns, teams up with the Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles for an all-new Holiday take on one of the Bard's most popular works "Twelfth Night or What You Will". Four Clowns presents "Welcome to Illyria! or An Exceedingly Silly Retelling of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night" Start your holiday off right, with laughs, giggles and general merriment! "Welcome to Illyria!" will run for twelve performances only, Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays from November 30 - December 16, 2018, Friday, Saturday & Sunday have an 8:00 pm show as well as a Sunday 2:00 pm show. This is not the first time Four Clowns has worked with Shakespeare's text. In 2015, Four Clowns took on Hamlet to receive rave reviews. In 2011 the company produced an award-winning version of Romeo & Juliet, and in 2014 they teamed up with California State University Long Beach to present a version of Ubu Roi called Ubu The Sh*t, a French play based on Shakespeare's Macbeth.

After thousands of sold out shows, it's clear - Bon Jovi = One Wild Night. One of the planet's biggest rock bands, Bon Jovi announce their return to the UK, continuing a triumphant world tour that has visited the USA, Canada, Brazil, Argentina and Chile and will hit Japan and Australia later in 2018.  A huge year of 80 shows and counting has also seen them inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. The Bronx Museum of the Arts is pleased to announce its new exhibition and artist workspace at 80 White Street in Lower Manhattan, which will be known as The Block Gallery. The name was chosen in honor of the late Bronx Museum Executive Director Holly Block. It will welcome the first artist residents in January, 2019.

The Washington Stage Guild announced the stepping-down of Executive Director Ann Norton, one of WSG's Founding Members.  Norton's 32 years in leadership roles helped nurture the WSG into one of Washington's most respected and enduring theatre companies.  Her accomplishments will be celebrated at the Washington Stage Guild's 2018 gala, to be held at the Arts Club of Washington on Thursday, November 8. The theme of the gala, "An Affair to Remember," celebrates the Golden Age of Hollywood, the setting for the upcoming World Premiere of All Save One by area playwright Greg Jones Ellis, set in Los Angeles 1950.
