Richard Pryor, Jr Recently Announced the Publication of IN A PRYOR LIFE: Richard, Jr.'s self proclaimed 'Freakish Life' paralleled his famous father's and namesake in many ways. A Peoria whorehouse, abuse, alcohol and drug addiction, as well as frequent bad decisions. However, he survived. And that's what his book is about, a real-life story of overwhelming obstacles, surviving, and thriving.

Born in Peoria, Illinois, on April 10, 1962, at only 6 months, the first-born son of Richard Pryor and his first wife, Patricia Watts, had to stay in the hospital for several weeks until he reached 5 pounds - and he was so small, his parents had to buy doll socks to fit his feet. 

Guests including actors Martin Freeman, John Heffernan and Danny Dyer, who are currently appearing in Pinter Seven, and Pinter at the Pinter Artistic Director Jamie Lloyd, gathered at the Harold Pinter Theatre last week as Lady Antonia Fraser bestowed a painting of the celebrated playwright by artist Amy Shuckburgh to the theatre, where it will be on permanent display. Lady Fraser entrusted the portrait to the theatre to celebrate the historic season, which has featured over thirty different pieces by the playwright, including his short plays and works first written for radio, television, revue nights, as well as poetry and prose.

“He would have wanted the show to go on,” Band of Friends bassist Gerry McAvoy laments about the passing of his lifelong friend and drummer, Ted McKenna. The two men had crisscrossed the globe together for decades playing high octane blues-rock at clubs, theaters, and festivals before McKenna passed away due to complications from a routine surgery he elected to undergo on his down time between tours.

Incoming Artistic Director Simon Godwin today announces Shakespeare Theatre Company's 2019-2020 Season. Godwin's debut season highlights his artistic aspirations for the company to create high quality, exciting, inclusive theatre. Godwin states, This is not my season, but ours, everybody's season.

Full casting has been announced for the first major revival of Nigel Williams' My Brother's Keeper?, which opens at London's Playground Theatre at the end of February. Joining actor and former stand-up comedian Andy de la Tour as ailing patriarch Mr Stone, will be Katherine Pogson (Vera ITV, Brazil Terry Gilliam, Aunt Dan & Lemon New York Theatre Drama Desk nomination) as Mrs Stone, David Partridge (The Secret Theatre - Sam Wanamaker Playhouse, Shakespeare's Globe, All My Sons - Rose Theatre, Kingston, Travels With My Aunt - Cc Theatre, UK tour) and Josh Taylor (Poldark - BBC, The Crown - Netflix, Each His Own Wilderness -Orange Tree Theatre) as their warring sons Sam and Tony.

When it premiered at Greenwich Theatre in 1985, My Brother's Keeper received rave reviews, prompting The Guardian to describe it as 'a very good new play - witty as well as touching, objective as well as subjective' and The Sunday Times to label it as 'impeccable'. Now some 34 years later, Nigel Williams' incisive, funny and affecting play about broken sibling relationships receives its first major revival in a production starring Andy de la Tour.

Two of the country's most exciting young stars, Zawe Ashton and Charlie Cox, will join Golden Globe, Olivier and Evening Standard Award winner Tom Hiddleston in The Jamie Lloyd Company production of Harold Pinter's Betrayal at the Harold Pinter Theatre from 5 March 2019 (press night 13 March) for a strictly limited season ending on 1 June, directed by Jamie Lloyd. The production forms the culmination of the historic Pinter at the Pinter season.

Spring activities for the Centennial, which continues through all of 2019, include a wide range of performances, film screenings, discussions, education initiatives, community programming, and new works by other artists in conversation with Merce Cunningham's work.

Beast on the Moon by Richard Kalinoski comes to the Finborough Theatre Tuesday, 29 January-Saturday, 23 February 2019. This is the first London production in more than 20 years.

Actor/Director Charles Weldon, who was Artistic Director of The Negro Ensemble Company (NEC) since 2005, died December 7 at Mt. Sinai Hospital, NYC. He was 78.
