I had never seen a professional production of HELLO, DOLLY! until now. I recall the 1969 film with Walter Matthau and Barbra Streisand. I did see the play it is based on, THE MATCHMAKER by Thornton Wilder at the Williamstown Theatre Festival and really did not enjoy it.

One of the biggest hits in theatrical history, CATS will come to Detroit from September 3-15, 2019 as part of a multi-season North American tour. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Sunday, June 9, 2019.

The Toronto Symphony Orchestra (TSO) concludes its 2018/19 season with musical fireworks as Canadian pianist Jan Lisiecki plays Mendelssohn, Donald Runnicles conducts Carmina Burana, Steven Reineke leads Modern Broadway, and star Canadian violinists James Ehnes and Jonathan Crow display their astonishing virtuosity with works by Korngold and Sibelius. The Denver Center for the Performing Arts announced today that for its 10th Denver engagement, the 2019 North American Tour of CATS has broken the box office record for the highest-gross of an eight-performance engagement at The Buell Theatre. The production grossed $1,724,149.75 during the show's April 24-28, 2019 engagement, creating an estimated economic impact of more than $6.2 million to Denver from travel, hotels, restaurants, parking and other businesses patronized by both theatergoers and production staff. This figure is based upon a Broadway League report which found that, on average, when a Broadway show is in a city, it contributes an economic impact of roughly 3.6 times the gross ticket sales to the local metropolitan area's economy.

Excitement is building at the Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) in Providence, RI, as the North American tour opening of the first ever Broadway revival of CATS approaches at the Theatre, January 22 - 27, 2019.
