Artistic Director, Hunter Foster has announced Redhouse Arts Center's 2020-21 Main Stage Season featuring several Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning productions that are sure to delight audiences of all ages. With every production this season, Redhouse will utilize its versatile theatre space to treat audiences to a thrilling theatre experience. 'We found our audiences really loved the intimacy of our productions, as they did with our musical, Rent', stated Foster. 'Having the actors so close to the audience really elevated the story's emotional level. No other theatre in Central New York gives such an immersive experience to an audience the way Redhouse can, and we want to continue experimenting with our spaces for the 20/21 season', he concluded. Janis Joplin was a one of a kind. A legend whose life and meteoric career only lasted a few brief years. Long enough for her to perform at Franklin Pierce College's Winter Carnival in 1969. In January of 1968, Wesleyan University paid Janis (along with her band, Big Brother and the Holding Company) $2,500 for a performance. By the time Franklin Pierce's Social Committee booked her for a February 8, 1969 performance, her rate had soared to $20,000. Less than 2 years later, Janis died of a heroin overdose on October 4, 1970, at the age of 27.

Now on Amazon! Eight great Edward D. Wood, Jr. novels have been discovered in an attic in Oklahoma. They have been painstakingly reprinted from the tiny text, on aged, yellow paper, to a larger, clearer text on exception cream paper. Countless hours have been toiled formatting and silently correcting typos for a new, refreshing read. It's a major Ed Wood miracle, bringing these lost gospels to the curious modern age. They all bare the original covers, some wonderfully illustrated in the glorious 60s pulp style. The stories include a crock-pot of weirdos and oddballs, transvestites and strippers, detectives chasing unknown killers, lovely young runaways caught up with seedy carnivals, and much, much more sleazy insanity!

As BroadwayWorld reported this morning, Bette Midler will indeed return to Broadway in one of the most cherished shows in musical theater history when she takes on the role of Dolly Gallagher Levi in Michael Stewart's (book) and Jerry Herman's (music and lyrics) masterpiece, Hello, Dolly!. Directed by four-time Tony Award® winner Jerry Zaks, Hello, Dolly! will begin performances on Broadway on March 13, 2017, with an official opening night of April 20, 2017. Rehearsals begin one year from today.
This new production of Hello, Dolly!, the first new production of this classic musical to appear on Broadway since it opened more than fifty years ago, will have at its helm Jerry Zaks as its director, and will feature choreography by Tony Award-winner Warren Carlyle. The new Dolly! will pay tribute to the original work of legendary director/choreographer Gower Champion, which has been hailed both then and now as one of the greatest stagings in musical theater history.
