Rolanda Brigham Joins BATC Staff

Rolanda Brigham a native Texan has worked extensively with arts education for the last 30 years in Chicago and Dallas. She is a retired actress who has performed in national commercials, voice overs, industrials, regional theatre as well as Broadway. A graduate of The College of Santa Fe with Masters work at The University of Kansas, Rolanda is the product of an innovative arts based curriculum from Arts Magnet High School at Booker T Washington in Dallas Texas. Rolanda has worked developing and implementing arts based curriculum in Chicago with Gallery 37, Truman Middle College High School, The Chicago Theatre Company, Pegasus Players, Cornell Interventions, Beacon Street Gallery/Youthnet and Master Artist Program, Urban Gateways, Catholic Charities, Sullivan House Group Home, Chicago's Juvenile Justice Systems' Healy and Smart Programs, LEAP (Lakeview Educational Arts Program) and with numerous high schools and elementary schools through the Chicago area. WaterTower Theatre Announces Casting and Creative Details for NATIVE GARDENS

WaterTower Theatre Artistic Director Joanie Schultz today announced casting and creative team details for the Regional Premiere of Karen Zacarias' Native Gardens, directed by David Lozano. Native Gardens will run June 2-25, 2017, in the Canterbury Family Main Stage at the Addison Theatre Centre. The cast features Stephanie Cleghorn Jasso as Tania Del Valle, Ivan Jasso as Pablo Del Valle, Lois Sonnier Hart as Virginia Butley, and John S. Davies as Frank Butley. (more...)

AIDS Action Committee's AIDS Walk & Run Boston to Take Place Sunday, June 4

Registration is now open for the 32nd annual AIDS Walk & Run Boston, which will take place Sunday, June 4, 2017 at the DCR Hatch Memorial Shell on the Esplanade. The event regularly draws thousands of participants, making it AIDS Action Committee's largest annual fundraiser. The Walk is 4.85 miles. The 5K Run is a competitive, timed event fully sanctioned by the USA Track & Field Association. (more...)

You can take the boy out of Utah, but can you ever take the Utah out of the boy? Who knows, but a couple weeks back at Broadway Sessions, we did learn that you can bring the Utah to the boy. Full disclosure: I, Ben Cameron, grew up in the great red state of Utah, just a mile or two from Brigham Young University. So, although you may not have known, I have known for years just how sensational the training is in the BYU Music/Dance/Theatre program. Training so goodie resulted in starry careers for alumni Paul Canaan (Kinky Boots, Legally Blonde), Alicia Shumway (The King and I), Zach Hess (The Book of Mormon), Michael Milkanin (Kinky Boots), Becca Petersen (Bandstand) and more. Currently, Lucas is mostly staying at his home in Atlantic City recovering from severe complications he received from open heart surgery in January 2016. He suffered extensive injuries to his hands and feet, spent a total of 4 1/2 months in the cardiac ICU at Brigham and Women's hospital & various rehabs and has been unable to return work. He is anxiously waiting to work with new hand and finger prosthetics while continuing to get stronger every day...all this while keeping an amazingly positive attitude and having his wife Rebecca by his side. Utah Opera Closes 2016-17 Season with Mozart's DON GIOVANNI

Tony-winning actress and international singing star Lea Salonga returned to Brigham Young University on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 to perform a concert of her hit songs and other memorable numbers with BYU's Chamber Orchestra. The concert was presented in BYU's de Jong Concert Hall as part of its BRAVO! professional performing arts series. Lea Salonga's emotional resonance and power and purity of voice left the audience breathless with wonder at many moments throughout the evening. This was quite simply one of the best concerts many members of the audience may ever attend. (more...)
