The University of Hawai'i at Mānoa's Department of Theatre and Dance and Kennedy Theatre will be hosting a celebration of the life and career of Terence a?oeTerrya?? Knapp on Saturday, October 19, 2019. Doors will open at 5:00pm, participants will be welcome to visit with one another on the upper lanai; the formal Celebration will begin at 5:30pm in the Kennedy Theatre auditorium. Admission is free and open to the public. 

Robert ('Bob') Ullman (left), the legendary theatre press agent, whose career included Ethel Merman and Mary Martin: Together on Broadway, A Chorus Line (from workshop to Public Theater to Broadway), Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne in The Visit, Lauren Bacall in Cactus Flower, The Dining Room, Driving Miss Daisy, Sunday in the Park with George, and over 150 additional Broadway and off-Broadway plays and musicals, died on July 31, 2019 in Bayshore, Long Island, New York. He was 97. The cause of death was cardiac arrest. Bob's death was announced by Rev. Joshua Ellis, a long-time Ullman friend, a former Broadway press agent, and now, an Interspiritual minister.

Diane Fletcher and Rachel Pickup, will lead the cast in Tom Littler's production of Somerset Maugham's For Services Rendered, the opening play of Jermyn Street Theatre's Memories Season. Diane Fletcher, who plays Charlotte Ardsley, is best known for creating the role of Elizabeth Urquhart opposite Ian Richardson in the BBC series House of Cards. Her career includes leading roles at The National Theatre, The RSC, The Royal Court and on the West End stage as well as numerous television and film appearances. Rachel Pickup will play Eva. Her career encompasses roles in the West End, the RSC, On Broadway and Off Broadway, leading roles on film and television as well as many regional theatres throughout the UK and in the US. Her stage highlights include: The Merchant of Venice at The Globe Theatre and Stephen Unwin's production of Miss Julie at The Rose Theatre Kingston for which she was nominated for the Best Actress Critics' Circle Award.

Centenary Stage Company announces 2019/20 season of events with Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, Darlene Love slated to kick off the season. Now available to Season Subscribers the 2019/20 season features a host of professional theatre productions including the return of Centenary Stage Company's popular Fringe Festival, the January Music Festival highlighting an array of top tier musicians, as well as a vast selection of dance events featuring premiere professional dance companies. The French Institute Alliance Fran aise (FIAF) honors the great French composer Michel Legrand, who died in January this year, with a special Cin Salon series devoted to his life and work. Curated by one of his longtime collaborators and greatest interpreters, singer and actress Melissa Errico, Summer of Michel Legrand brings together seven of his films from his best known triumphs such as The Umbrellas of Cherbourg and The Young Girls of Rochefort to lesser known gems such as the enchanting fairy-tale musical Donkey Skin. Screenings take place on Tuesdays in July at 4pm and 7:30pm in FIAF's Florence Gould Hall.

Folks Operetta continues its Reclaimed Voices Series with Paul Ábraham's exotic jazz operetta, The Flower of Hawaii featuring soprano and former Ms. Illinois Marisa Bucheit (2014) as Princess Laya/Suzanne. 

Effie Marie Sojak Rosene passed away early Mother's Day morning, May 12, 2019. She was born November 10, 1932 to Frank Sojak and Christine Lezak Sojak, Czech immigrant farmers, in the Frydek/Simonton area of Texas. She grew up in the Rio Grande Valley with 15 brothers and sisters and graduated from Rio Hondo High School. She attended St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in Houston. She was working as a nurse at St. Joseph Hospital when she met the love of her life, Willard George (Bill) Rosene.

It was announced today that The Radio City Rockettes will open this year's Chita Rivera Awards with a show stopping performance of 'New York, New York.' The Rockettes history with Chita Rivera dates back more than 30 years when the renowned precision dance company performed alongside Rivera in the 1988 tour of Can-Can.

A longtime advocate for music suppressed by the Nazi regime, Polish-Canadian pianist Daniel Wnukowski (vnoo-koff'-skee) makes his New York debut this February as part of a festival dedicated to the music of Galician-Jewish composer Karol Rathaus (1895-1954). Little-known today, Rathaus was a protege of Franz Schreker and built a successful career in Berlin before fleeing in 1932 due to the deteriorating political situation in Germany. He first migrated to Paris, then to London in 1934. He settled in New York in 1938 and joined the music faculty of Queens College two years later as its first professor of composition.
