BroadwayWorld talks to Broadway musical star Laura Benanti about her show at the Lesher Center for the Arts on June 25th. Houston Grand Opera has announced the appointment of rising star Joel Thompson as the first full-time Composer-in-Residence in its history. The company has recruited Thompson to Houston after commissioning and staging the 2021 world premiere of his first opera, The Snowy Day. His five-year residency with HGO begins on August 1, 2022.

The East West Players presents the rolling world premiere of Interstate, an Asian-American pop-rock poetry musical (opened last week). Jesca Prudencio directs the cast of Jupiter Lê, Kristian Espiritu, Jaya Joshi, Michelle Noh, Reuben Uy, Stefan Miller, Natalie Holt MacDonald and Krystle Simmons.
