There is much to enjoy in Coyote Stageworks' production of THE COCKTAIL HOUR, by A.R. Gurney: the script is funny, the directing is top-notch, and there is a great deal of excellent acting. Unfortunately, one actor was sick at the performance I attended, resulting in problems for the show that night.

Would-be friends become fence-feuding neighbors over two feet of property.
by Shari Barrett - Mar 21, 2016
The West Coast premiere of DOMESTIC TRANQUILITY by Rich Orloff is currently playing to uproariously laughing audiences at Little Fish Theatre in San Pedro, directed with a clear vision by Holly Baker-Kreiswirth in which much homage is paid to classic gangster movies. Directing in the most over-the-top slapstick style makes sense for this imaginary tale in which even convicts are cardboard cut-outs compared to those who might break into your home these days.

If you think you know Oscar Wilde's 'The Picture of Dorian Gray' you may want to think again. In fact, many only know the most basic plot based on its many references in popular culture throughout the years. But whether you're a novice or a die-hard Dorian Gray aficionado, you're in for a treat from Book-It as they've based their adaptation on the only recently published original manuscript that was deemed too racy for Victorian England. But it's here now complete with all its taboo subjects the way Wilde intended and Book-It's production is, in a word, delicious.

“If Tom Waits and Billie Holiday were to have a style child, singer-songwriter Sophie Auster would be it,” writes Vogue, describing the unique blend of power and glamour that Auster commands. The Deli likens her music to “a cross between Fiona Apple's righteous rage andGillian Welch's homespun folk yarns…” While Auster cites these artists as influences for her songwriting, her music is wholly her own. Her latest album, Dogs and Men (Out Loud Music), has been called “soaring” (W Magazine). The New York Times praises the album's “songs that meld sultry, folksy vocals with soul- (and teeth-) baring lyrics” and recently premiered the video for the album's first single, “Bad Manners.” Her NYC tour itinerary can be found below.
