To inaugurate San Francisco Opera's 96th season and the opening night double bill of Pietro Mascagni's Cavalleria Rusticana and Ruggero Leoncavallo's Pagliacci (or Cav/Pag), San Francisco Opera Guild presents Opera Ball 2018: ¡Viva La Noche! on Friday, September 7, 2018. Co-chaired by Shannon Cronan and Kathy Huber, this sold out gala benefit to raise funds for the Company's education and outreach programs features event design by J. Riccardo Benavides and dinner by McCalls Catering & Events. Debuting at this year's event, Chalk Hill Estate Vinyards and Winery is the official Opera Ball Wine Sponsor, joining Roederer Estate as the Sparkling Wine Sponsor and Neiman Marcus, the Dinner Sponsor. Honorary Chairs for Opera Ball 2018 are John A. & Cynthia Fry Gunn and Diane B. Wilsey.

Dustin S. Cates, Artistic Director of Heartland Men's Chorus (HMC), announced Monday their 33rd year will again present three distinct concerts, all with the show stopping productions for which HMC has become known and all created to change hearts and minds. But Season 33 is also incredibly unique. "In our 33 years," said Cates, "We've not done something this big, produced by two dozen gay choruses, including the largest gay choruses in the U.S., where WE get to perform it first. It's quite an honor. We are basically telling the story of the Gay Rights Movement through song, poetry, pictures and videos. And it's quite an undertaking."

The Green Room 42 presents a one-night-only premiere concert of the song cycle THE YEAR AFTER by Tim Aumiller and Scott Schneider. Follow a quintet of New Yorkers as they confront the realities of seeking love, losing love and enduring relationships in a time of personal and political chaos.

Richmond Triangle Players continues its 2018-19 season with The Laramie Project, the groundbreaking play by Moises Kaufman and members of the Tectonic Theater Project that chronicles the people and events that led up to the horrific murder of Matthew Shepard, as well as the immediate aftermath. The production will open Friday September 28 at 8:00 pm, after two low-priced previews on Wednesday and Thursday September 26 and 27 at 8:00 pm, and run through Friday October 19.

The show's music, by master composer Alan Menken (Disney's Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Newsies, Aladdin), is in the style of 1960s rock and roll, doo-wop and early Motown, and includes several well-known tunes such as "Suddenly Seymour," "Somewhere That's Green" and the title song. The plot follows nerdy floral shop worker Seymour, who would do or give anything to gain the love of his co-worker Audrey. The depth of his desire is tested when a strange and menacing addition to his floral shop brings him sudden and unexpected popularity. Performances of Little Shop of Horrors are Tuesday, August 21 through Sunday, August 26 at the Wells Fargo Pavilion.

Boundless Theatre Company (Maria-Cristina Fuste, Executive Artistic Director) will present a revival of Maria Irene Fornes' The Conduct of Life, directed by Elena Araoz. The production runs from September 7 through September 30 at Teatro Circulo, located at 64 East 4th Street. Opening Night is set for Saturday, September 15.
