From October 6 to 27 at the Upper East Side's Bohemian National Hall and Jan Hus Church, GOH Productions will present a Centennial Heritage Festival, featuring mainstage marionette theater productions for adults and kids and musical concerts for audiences of all ages. The festival celebrates two auspicious anniversaries: the Centennial Anniversary of the founding of Czechoslovakia (1918) and the Millennial Anniversary of the unification of the Lands of the Czech Crown, under Duke Oldrich (1018).

Opera Memphis' 30 Days of Opera returns September 1-30, 2018. This annual event features dozens of TOTALLY FREE opera performances across Memphis and the MidSouth, turning the opera house inside out and taking the music to you! This year will include performances of Movin' Up in the World, an opera featured in last season's Midtown Opera Festival as a part of the McCleave Project, as well as the return of the Levitt Shell concert - back by popular demand-on Sept. 23. The Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival (HSDFF), presented by Mountain Valley Spring Water, announced today that HILLBILLY (d. Ashley York& Sally Rubin) will open the 27th annual festival in Hot Springs, Arkansas. For the past several summers, I have attended the Festival of Arts and The Pageant of the Masters in Laguna Beach. But this year, I also decided to also visit two other art festivals along Laguna Canyon Road rather than spend any time cruising the town as I had done before. The full-day of exploring all the artistic delights on display this year at all three locations left me dazzled by all the talent on display, while wishing I had lot of extra income to purchase and bring home many of the awe-inspiring items that caught my fancy. But the real highlight of the day was viewing the abundance of 'local color' on display in this summer's 'Under the Sun' themed Pageant of the Masters.

EL PUBLICO is a play written around 1930 by poet and playwright Federico Garcia Lorca which was lost, all of which has never been found, and which remained unperformed until 50 years following the author's death in 1936. Austin playwright Elizabeth Doss has adapted it to the stage in English as THE AUDIENCE and incorporated into it the circumstances of Lorca's political assassination at the hands of Nationalist insurgents in the early days of the Spanish Civil War.

Uber busy, much in-demand choreographer Janet Roston will have three separate theatre productions running this month of July. Already opened - CABARET at Celebration Theatre and MUTT HOUSE at Kirk Douglas - Janet's latest choreographic piece GATSBY REDUX will be world premiering July 24, 2018 as part of THE MUSIC CENTER'S MOVES AFTER DARK. We had the opportunity to catch Janet in a rare, spare moment between her shows to see how her choreographic mind works.

'Guys and Dolls' is based off of a string of short stories by writer Damon Runyon. His forte was tales of the seedy underbelly of the New York City crime scene of the 20's and 30's. Will Geer's Theatricum Botanicum presents the first-ever revival of a historical melodrama about the Haitian revolution that graced the stage at New York's Lafayette Theatre in Harlem in 1938 as part of the Federal Theatre Project. Haiti by William DuBois will join Theatricum's summer repertory season beginning July 28. Performances will continue at Theatricum's beautiful outdoor venue in Topanga through Sept. 29.
