I honestly don't think I can name a single person who I know who hasn't seen Disney's The Little Mermaid.  Not even one.  It has been a favorite of so many since the movie premiered in 1989.  The story is based off of a fairy tale written by Hans Christian Andersen, and was adapted for the big screen with music written by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman.  It tells the tale of a 16-year-old mermaid named Ariel, who falls in love with Prince Eric, a land creature.  This love is forbidden by Ariel's father, King Triton.  Disobeying her father, Ariel goes on a quest with her friends Sebastian, Flounder, and Scuttle to make a deal with the sea witch Ursula that will turn her into a human so she can be with her love at last.

The National Alliance for Musical Theatre just announced the preliminary directors and casting for its 27th ANNUAL FESTIVAL OF NEW MUSICALS. The Festival will take place on Thursday, October 15 and Friday, October 16 at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street, between 8th and 9th Avenues).

Based on the Broadway musical thriller written by Frank Wildhorn and Leslie Bricusse, Jekyll & Hyde Resurrection is a live concert featuring the music and songs from the 2006 album starring Rob Evan and Kate Shindle, and produced byFrank Wildhorn and Jeremy Roberts. The album inspired a full symphonic version of the musical that toured the US and South Korea directed by Producer/Director Vincent Marini. This musical retelling of the Robert Louis Stevenson classic takes a modern, dark and Rock influenced approach with the three stars and a full rock band delivering the highly charged and melodic score. Jamie Muscato will join the cast of The House of Mirrors and Hearts, a new British chamber musical to play in Studio 1 at Arcola Theatre from Thursday 2 July 2015. Jamie will play the role of Nathan, replacing the previously announced Bart Edwards, who has had to withdraw from the production due to unforeseen circumstances.

Disney's Newsies will claim Nashville as their own hometown with a weeklong run at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center beginning Tuesday, Osborne and Eppler's Southern Fried Nuptials takes the stage in Woodbury, and local favorite Geoff Davin unveils his latest theatrical creation - Adamenses Huckster…and there's plenty of theater continuing this week to keep you occupied all week long!

Casting is announced today for the World Premiere of The House of Mirrors and Hearts, a new British chamber musical which will open the Summer/Autumn Season at Arcola Theatre from Thursday 2 July to Saturday 1 August, with a press night on Tuesday 7 July at 7.30pm.
