BroadwayWorld announced Monday that two time Tony Award winner Sutton Foster would star in the 2020 revival of The Music Man. She joins fellow Tony winner Hugh Jackman in the Meredith Wilson classic. She'll soon be playing Marian the Librarian, but look back at the roles that led her to become a new icon for this era of Broadway.

Jacob's Pillow announces that internationally sought-after Colombian-Belgian choreographer Annabelle Lopez Ochoa is the recipient of the 2019 Jacob's Pillow Dance Award.

Sandra Joseph, longest-running leading lady on Broadway, spent a decade as Christine Daae' in THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA. She has gone on to be a keynote speaker/singer, and has authored the #1 international bestselling book on Amazon, 'Unmasking What Matters: 10 Life Lessons from 10 Years on Broadway.'

From March 15-24, Pixie Dust Players presents their first family musical, Annie at Union County Performing Arts Center's Hamilton Stage. It also happens to be their first full length musical at UCPAC and first time working with a professional theater dog (provided by Bill Berloni.)

The Omaha Community Playhouse (OCP) has announced the titles to be produced during their 95th season, which will run from August, 2019 through June, 2020. Berklee President Roger H. Brown will present three-time Tony and Grammy-Award winning Alex Lacamoire (B.M. '95,), award-winning actor and 10-time Grammy-Award winning musician Justin Timberlake, and five-time Grammy-Award winning Missy Elliott with honorary Doctor of Music degrees at Berklee College of Music's commencement ceremony, Saturday, May 11, at the 7,000-seat Agganis Arena at Boston University.

On April 1, the celebrated Off-Broadway theater company The Civilians will host Civilian Disobedience, their annual spring benefit, which honors their Civilians of the Year: Emmy nominated, award-winning documentary filmmakers Ricki Stern and Annie Sundberg (Reversing Roe, Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work) as well as Marion Friedman Young for her longstanding support of The Civilians and her recent work as The Civilians partners for the Michael Friedman Legacy Fund.

Walnut Street Theatre continues its 210th anniversary season with Simon Stephens' Tony Award-winning Best Play, THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME. Directed by Bill Van Horn, the play begins previews on March 12th, opens on March 20th, and runs through April 28th on the Walnut's Mainstage.

Today, The 24 Hour Plays, in partnership with The New School for Drama, announced that the annual application for The 24 Hour Plays: Nationals will be available starting March 11, 2019 and will run through April 1, 2019. The 24 Hour Plays: Nationals will take place in August in New York City.

General Director and CEO Deborah Sandler today announced the final production of Lyric Opera of Kansas City's 2018-19 Explorations Series, Penelope, a groundbreaking song cycle based on The Odyssey, as told from Penelope's point of view. Composed by Sarah Kirkland Snider, Penelope was named one of the five best genre-defying works in 2010 by National Public Radio. The performance, featuring conducted by Carolyn Watson and directed by Alison Moritz, will be held March 30 at 7:30 p.m. at Lyric Opera's Michael and Ginger Frost Production Arts Building. Parity Productions, the New York based theater company dedicated to producing new work and filling at least 50% of the creative positions (playwrights, directors, and designers) with women and/or trans and gender nonconforming (TCNG) artists, has announced the full cast and crew for their world premiere production of Charlie's Waiting by Melisa Annis, Parity's 2017 Commission Winner, as well as an extension of the run. Charlie's Waiting will now play March 28 through April 20 at Theaterlab (357 W 36th St, New York, NY 10018) hosted by TLab Shares. The cast is led by Tony nominee Xanthe Elbrick (Broadway: Coram Boy, Candida), and features Stephanie Heitman (A Snowfall in Berlin), and Amy Scanlon (Balladeers Play to the Moon) and is directed by Parity Productions Artistic Director, Ludovica Villar Hauser.

Fred Luther Foster passed away peacefully last night following a short illness with his family at his side. Foster was born July 26, 1931, in Rutherford County, North Carolina, the youngest of eight children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vance Hampton and Clara Marcella (Weaste) Foster, and siblings Albert Glen, Estelle, Charles Vance, Ray, Pauline, Ethel Lou, and Ann. He is survived by his son Vance Foster, and daughters Micki Foster (Greg) Koenig, Leah Foster (Dillon) Alderman, Brit Foster (Judd) Rothstein, and Kristen Foster and grandchildren Rachel DiGregorio, Rhys and Tess Rothstein, and Penelope Kirschner. He is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.

This week's decluttering is only freeing up a tiny bit of space in my collection, but it represents an enormous place in my heart. Ever since WAITRESS first premiered at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 2015 and soon after on Broadway in 2016, audiences have fled to see this wonderful show. The original movie opened in 2007 and was written by the late Adrienne Shelly. It became widely successful and soon after a creative team was assembled in 2013. Sara Bareilles was a star in her own right by this time and she is responsible for the wonderful music and lyrics of this well-done musical. With Jesse Nelson writing the book, she wrote the story using unfinished scripts by Adrienne Shelly to bring Ms. Shelly's voice into the project.
