British composer and electronic producer Circles And Ellipses is set to release 'Burn:Cycle Reworks' on 22nd February via Here & Now Recordings; a follow-up EP to the original soundtrack of the 1994 video game Burn:Cycle, the first ever video game soundtrack to feature orchestral music, consisting of four reimagined electronic compositions. Originally composed and produced by both Chris Whitten and BAFTA-nominated British film score composer, conductor, producer and musician Simon Boswell in the early '90s for the adventure video-game title published by Philips Interactive Media, Chris Whitten now returns as Circles And Ellipses to share reworks of this classic game soundtrack. Whitten's musical journey has been a vast and impressive one so far, from producing classic '80s hit-singles such as 'What I Am' by Edie Brickell & New Bohemians (which currently boasts 10 million views on YouTube alone), to providing drums for 'The Whole of the Moon' by The Waterboys and the legendary Sir Paul McCartney's 1989 album 'Flowers In The Dirt' and joining iconic British rock band Dire Straits on their final world tour from 1991-1992 and once again during their 2017 reunion tour. Chris Whitten is also widely recognised for composing original scores for top media companies, including BBC and Discovery Channel. Circles And Ellipses has just done a Mix for NTS Radio's Tim Noakes' 'Synth Hero Show' whose previous guests include film composer Clint Mansell, dance duo Orbital, Stranger Things composer Kyle Dixon, and Paul White from R&S Records. Noakes has described Whitten as 'cult drum God'.

Asolo Repertory Theatre proudly continues its 60th season with Lucas Hnath's A DOLL'S HOUSE, PART 2.  The 2017 Broadway premiere was nominated for 8 Tony Awards, including Best Play, and garnered a Best Actress Tony Award for Laurie Metcalf. Helmed by longtime Asolo Rep favorite Peter Amster, this hilariously imagined sequel to the Ibsen classic previews January 16 and 17, opens January 18 and runs through March 31 in rotating repertory in the Mertz Theatre, located in the FSU Center for the Performing Arts.

RENT is coming back to Detroit! The Detroit engagement is part of the 20th Anniversary Tour and will be here from January 8th -20th at the Fisher Theatre. In 1996, an original rock musical by a little-known composer opened on Broadway and forever changed the landscape of American theatre. Two decades later, Jonathan Larson's RENT continues to speak loudly and defiantly to audiences across generations and all over the world. The Pulitzer Prize and Tony-Award winning masterpiece returns to the stage in a vibrant 20th anniversary touring production. A reimagining of Puccini's La Boheme, RENT follows an unforgettable year in the lives of seven artists struggling to follow their dreams without selling out. BroadwayWorld Detroit had a chance to speak with Logan Marks, who plays the role of Mark in the 20thAnniversary Tour of RENT, about the show, his iconic role, and why RENT is still going strong 20 years later. Mosaic Theater Company of DC is proud to announce the second installment in its annual Voices From a Changing Middle East Festival, the world premiere workshop production of Shame 2.0 (With Comments From The Populace). Previews begin on January 30, 2019 with a press opening on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at 7:30pm in the Lang Theatre at the Atlas Performing Arts Center. The 19 performance run will be informed by a stripped down aesthetic and an emphasis on script updates through the lengthier than usual preview period and the evolving nature of the documentary-based rehearsal process.

Given the current political climate in this country you have to ask if there is any such thing as a truly honest politician. Today's subject, Nehassaiu deGannes, is currently living her theatre life onstage at Studio Theatre portraying just that type, Rep. Sydney Millsap, in local playwright Sarah Burgess' Kings. The production runs through January 13th in Studio's fourth floor space.

In the fall of 2017, Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater cancelled its last show amidst its 33rd season with a daunting mortgage crisis at hand. It looked dire for the non-profit which built a state-of-the art theater on State Highway Route 6 in 2008. Rumors were swirling that the theater was closing its doors. But in August, at their Sock & Buskin Bash, new Executive Director Christopher Ostrom and new Board Chair Donna Ward "burned the mortgage" (in theatrical style they used flash paper to illustrate it), and officially announced that the darkest days were behind them. The turnaround has been bolstered by generous donors, the good spirit of community in Wellfleet and the Outer Cape, and a determined Board of Trustees.
