PBS recently unveiled a list of America's 100 best-loved novels, chosen in support of THE GREAT AMERICAN READ, a new PBS series and multi-platform initiative that celebrates the joy of reading and the books we love. THE GREAT AMERICAN READ, hosted by television personality and journalist Meredith Vieira, launches with a two-hour episode on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at 8 p.m. on PBS stations and will introduce viewers to the full list of America's 100 favorite novels selected through a demographically representative national survey conducted by YouGov.

Then, after a multi-platform initiative throughout the summer, which will include live public events, social media components and national reading clubs, the series will resume in the fall with several themed episodes, including an exciting finale, culminating in the first-ever national vote to choose 'America's Best-Loved Novel.' It will be the most expansive national celebration of books and reading aimed at engaging multi-generational readers across multiple platforms ever created.

Opera Saratoga's Artistic and General Director Lawrence Edelson today announced the complete casting and programming for the company's 2018 Summer Festival, which will feature new productions of four operas at The Spa Little Theater in Spa State Park, along with a wide variety of free and ticketed concert events from May 26th through July 15th at venues throughout the region.

Prince played with many talented musicians over the course of his 40-year career, but his most celebrated and iconic allies will always be Bobby Z, Wendy Melvoin, Lisa Coleman, Matt Fink & Brownmark; The Revolution.  They resume their U.S. tour on June 9th at the Wichita River Festival in Kansas and will hit several major U.S. Festivals this summer and fall including: Arroyo Seco, Bumbershoot and ACL, before heading over to Europe, in early 2019, for their first tour in 33 years!   Full itinerary is below.

New York Youth Symphony (NYYS), is proud to continue its mission of providing an outstanding music education and performance opportunities to students between the ages of 12-22 by launching a new Musical Theater Composition program aimed at diversifying the world of musical theater. The new director and performance information is expected to be announced in summer 2018. Also new in 2018/19 the NYYS Orchestra and Chamber Music Programs will tour together for the first time ever to Spain in 2019, where they will explore cities including Madrid, Granada, and Seville.

San Francisco's Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra led by Nicholas McGegan anchors a presentation of Handel's pastoral three-act opera Atalanta in the Venetian Theater (July 22); and New York's On Site Opera presents a fully staged site-specific production of Mozart's charming early opera The Secret Gardener (La finta giardiniera) in Caramoor's Sunken Garden (July 13). Musical tributes this month from Mike Lewis & Friends include Thelonious Monk, Chuck Mangione, Chet Baker and Sade and Josh Kaye & Friends will pay homage to the great Aretha Franklin featuring vocalist Sherry Graham. The Honolulu Jazz Quartet will present a tribute to Broadway Classics with a jazz twist

The Dean Ween Group will be hitting the road this Summer in celebration of therelease of its sophomore album, rock2. The new album was released worldwide earlier this year by Schnitzel Records as limited editions of 180 gram colored vinyl with gatefold sleeve and specially colored CD in digi-pac respectively as well as via digital retailers and streaming services.   Dean Ween - aka The Deaner - recorded the album at his dedicated studio facility in Lambertville, NJ, across the river from his native New Hope, PA.

The hugely successful West End musical premiered in Australia in 2007 as the first international production outside of the UK, prior to its Broadway premiere. With the first Australian tour concluding in Melbourne in 2009, this new 10th Anniversary tour kicks off in 2019, ten years after the curtain came down in Australia.
