Theatre Exile will kick off its 2017/2018 season with Ideation by Aaron Loeb. Ninety minutes from now, a group of stressed-out corporate consultants is slated to present their work on a mysterious project.

Following the successes of her Pulitzer Prize-winning The Flick and her haunting and enigmatic John, Stray Cat once again brings the latest work by in-house favorite playwright Annie Baker. An unnamed conference room. A group of creators on an intense and intensely surreal brainstorming session for unspecified purposes. All we know is that these people are being asked to keep coming up with stories - the more personal the better - in the hopes that something will jell and move their project - whatever that may be - forward.

On Monday evening, March 19, PlayGround concludes its 24th season of Monday Night PlayGround with a special "Musical Theatre Night," inspired by and featuring the music of Philip Glass. The playwrights have just four-and-a-half days to generate their original short musicals and plays with music set to Philip Glass' String Quartets Nos 2-5 (as recorded by San Francisco's own Kronos Quartet in the 1995 recording "Kronos Quartet performs Philip Glass"). The top six will be matched up with leading directors and actors and presented as script-in-hand staged readings at Berkeley Repertory Theatre on March 19 at 8pm. The Prop Thtr is pleased to announce its 2018-19 Season, kicking off this fall with NEVERLAND, a new devised adaptation of J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan, written and directed by the Prop's new Artistic Director Olivia Lilley. I was attracted to Peter and the Starcatcher because of the script. It is an extremely well-crafted and an exceptionally inventive grown-up's prequel to Peter Pan where twelve actors play over 100 assorted characters, through the use animated characterization and the boundless limits of imagination. The actors enter a sparse stage and create a world for us where we face high adventure, big dreams, tough choices and flying; and the audience is asked to employ their imaginations immediately. The script is smart, tight, heartwarming and hilarious.

San Francisco Playhouse is thrilled to announce that its production of Ideation, which had its world premiere at the Playhouse and won the 2014 prestigious William Glickman playwriting award, will move to New York City, playing Off-Broadway at 59E59 Theaters as part of their 2015-16 5A series. Josh Costello will direct. This is the second consecutive year that a San Francisco Playhouse production has been invited to participate in the 5A series in New York. Last season the Playhouse's commissioned play Bauer by Lauren Gunderson, another world premiere, was a hit at 59E59.
